Like for real, with all the QOL changes we have been getting for the last few years, I can’t think of a single reason why one wouldn’t change how summoning works.
Pardon me if this has been discussed (I’m quite active on the forum and I don’t recall such topics for a while), and if there are certain lore restrictions (I’m not a huge lore guy, so I wouldn’t know) please point that out.
Why does it require 2 people to summon via a meeting stone, and why does a warlock need 3 people to get the stone out? I’m not against removing either the stones or the spell, just make it so that 1 player is enough for either summoning, or 1 warlock making the spell and then summoning people where ever he is. It’s simple, for a 5 man group, you go to a meeting stone, and by channeling for a few seconds, you summon the entire party there, same goes for a lock. He creates the stone solo, and then summons the entire party with a channel… We’ve had such a system in Cata (it was guild perk), and it did nothing except piss us off when it got removed.
Let me give you a few scenarios where I’m coming from and why this should be the case:
M+ grps, you need 2 people out of 5. You are there, with WM OFF, and someone comes with WM ON. Great, now ask someone else to come.
So many raids / dungeons are locked behind certain requirements for new players. I’m talking about Mechagon, Nazjatar, BFA zones in general, Argus. It’s literally dificult to sometimes make a group for Antorus and get people there, because many don’t have it unlocked. It has happened quite some times that a person was at the stone, and noone, literally noone else had the unlock so the group disbanded.
If you are making possible that we will play with alliance in a few months, scrap the stupid summoning restrictions aswell please.
It’s not exactly asking for the moon on a stick, I see no reason why this couldn’t be made a little easier.
There are plenty of times when two players are doing old dungeons and raids together and being able to summon each other would just make things a bit easier and fun.
I’ve had war mode on by mistake when going to summon and I just turn it off when I notice it’s on, most dungeons have resting areas nearby where you can turn it off.
I beg to differ. How is this making something ‘easy’, when it’s not ‘hard’ to even begin with? It’s not difficult to do things I mentioned, it’s just plain annoying. Especially in the scenarios I mentioned above. The changes I’m proposing would literally hurt noone, while now some players are actually getting frustrated due to how summons work. I’ve seen this quite some times, where we couldn’t do a Antorus run because I was the only one there, and people that couldn’t get here were very angry.
Why would someone turn it off, and why would I be the one insisting this? The other player could easily say ‘Why don’t you turn it on?’ to me, and we would be in an endless circle, instead of just removing the stupid requirements that are the same since the game came out.
Not at all Why do you think that? It’s all going fine for me, just an idea I had while waiting and realizing that summoning is such an outdated concept, since it’s pretty much the same as it was when the game released.
It was called Have Group Will Travel. I wish it would comeback. Unfortunately it was heavily abused by creating groups and summoning them all to their deaths on the edge of cliffs.
My problem with summon, is mostly attached to raiding.
I hate that only 1 class have such a huge QoL thing for the raid. In pug especially Warlocks are basically must have, especially when raid entrance are SoD like.
If anything this should be expanded to couple more classes to make sure you always have a summoner in the raid.
been asking for 1 person summoning and a way to go to mythic dungeon entrance automatically for years, theyll never do it … no idea why, but they wont (well, unless youre doing very high end mythics, of course)
That’s very toxic in my eyes, and such things actually make you a bad person. Also one more reason to add to the list why summoning should be changed
You are answering like a kid, I know these things, they are obvious like day and night, but my question is why should one change his preferred setting just because of a stupid restriction or requirement that could easily be changed and noone would be hurt during the proccess?
Exactly, one more reason and 1 more thing to discuss. Sometimes only druids could combat ress, only shamans had BL, only priests could purge, but now the toolkits are massively expanded, no reason for a wlock summon to be this way.
I find it quite toxic, not gonna lie. If you don’t, that’s fine, but I wouldn’t do something like that. If someone plays with WM on, it serves absolutely no purpose turning it off to do such a trivial thing aka summoning someone, let alone removing them from the group. What if you lose a great player by doing so? A M+ run could be very much different if you replace someone good with someone bad.
WM ON / WM OFF is only displayed while joining the custom section of the groups, it isn’t shown in M+ as far as I know. And also no idea why you think this is ok, I’m personally WM OFF always, but this is like a punhsiment for WM ON since ratio is probably 80 - 20 if not even 90 - 10.
Also really curious, you just came out with such bad strategies as in how to counter the issues, but you haven’t given a single argument as in why you think the idea of scrapping the summoning restrictions is bad and why you disagre with it. It would literally hurt nobody.
Disagree. Bad attitude does not equal bad performance. It’s unfortunte that sometimes the most toxic players and morons perform exceptionally well. Happened to me couple of times in M+. Also quite common in real life. If you dodge a bullet by doing so, is subjective.
Not really, just pointing out that his answers were very obvious, but my questions weren’t. Didn’t mean to insult him or belittle him.
Yeah I know, there were abuses, but this could easily be solved. One good idea that I also saw is that summoning stones could also be inside. That could solve quite some issues.
