SWTOR is a shiny example how story in MMORPG should be delivered. Cinematic conversations and dialogue wheel with choices that matter.
Maybe change the title of the thread and replace the word ‘every’ with ‘some’
You’re right on that, I edited the title.
I love FF14, from the quirky humour and style to the job system. And the community is so laid back.
Wished I got into it a lot sooner.
Not played SWTOR in a long time… pretty much just the first year, got the big collector’s edition back then with the large figurine. The security fob that came with it got chewed up by a puppy… Wonder if my collectibles are still around?
I wanted to like FFIV but the levelling is like pulling teeth. Theres so much go here, kill this thing, then go back, now go back again, kill that, now back oh wait go back there again uuughhhhh
If I wanted that kind of questing I’d go back to classic, Kupo
No you!
LAAAAAG too gotta be the most laggy mmo out there. and the most alt unfriendly for sure.
They sure know how to make areas with the vision of middle earth, the start zones are amazing also minas tirith is soo wonderfully made even if its a lagfest upon entering such a huge city.
PvP in lotro felt ranked based and only balanced if you were same rank as your opponent that is… as an uruk hai player with the rank of Tyrant will have a much easier taking out a elven Esquire.
I have enjoyed it alot too but the pvp… well is veeeeery build based people killing you in a matter of a few seconds while refusing to die themselves seen many unkillable werewolf builds.
Other then that great open world visuals and other then pvp god mode balance issue just one other problem I had is dungeons at times you will get endless broken que times
uno reversal card
uno reversel card + a +4 card combo
Porbably yes
You can contact the staff to solve this little problem for you ,so you could log in
Actually not that a bad game, nice if you want to take a break from WoW for a week or two
My forbidden love is still AION tho’
More narrative choices would be nice.
If you’re going to tell a terrible story, at least let me try and steer it in a better direction in some form. BfA’s “choice” was a joke. Siding with Sylvanas has you helping Saurfang until the last minute and in Shadowlands it’s gonna be even more so since Sylvanas is now doomed to be a raid boss.
So far SWTOR and to a lesser extent ESO do this well. As mad as I am about the laziness of the loyalist questline at least we got to express ourselves for once. That’s more roleplaying than WoW has ever had. We’re always told to just go along with it regardless of what we personally think. Sadly we’re going back to being railroaded in Shadowlands because Blizzard is once again being lazy.
Gotta say though, my friends finally broke me into trying final fantasy 14 while it’s free. The story is dull as dishwater and the dialogue is so bad I find myself tempted to skip over it, something I never do in games. The new player experience in that game in general is pretty garbage so far.
Here’s My take on a few of the MMO’s out there (and a couple that aren’t anymore)
Earth and Beyond - Killed off by EA and was my first MMO, had an evolving story that progressed with each patch. Best part was the idea that you learnt crafting schematics by taking apart items, made all loot worth something.
Star Wars Galaxies - My second MMO and the one I really miss, killed off by incompetent management (SOE and LA totally misunderstood what the players wanted) and indirectly killed off by EA… The story ? well it was Star Wars, I think we all know the story, a sandbox MMO with themepark elements. A crafting and housing system that hasn’t been bettered in any MMO.
Eve Online - It’s not called Spreadsheets in Space for nothing, if you like number and stats then this is the game for you, another sandbox with full loot FFA PvP and one of the best commuties I’ve come across.
ESO - Played it at launch and disliked the way the SJW elements where shoved in your face at every opportunity, that, and the problem with bots made me stop playing.
LotRO - The granddaddy IP of all modern fantasy. Goes without saying that the story can’t be beat, has my favourite starter zone of all MMO’s (The Shire), a pity the other starter zones don’t come up to scratch, Has the best Music and wardrobe system I’ve seen and the worse player housing ever.
Runes of Magic - It’ an OK sort of story but heavily P2W, has an excellent class system where you can combine classes to get unique skills.
Entropia Universe - Another P2W game with a superb skill system and an excellent physics engine when you’re driving a vehicle.
DDO - The IP that pretty much wrote the early rule book where RPG’s where concerned, Interesting story, excellent dungeon designs and a combat system I loved.
Ryzom - very much a player led sandbox, lovely crafting system and an interesting skill system where you build your own skills and abilities from a library of lesser abilities.
Everquest 2 - The game WoW initially copied but polished up a few things and made a success of it.
WoW - Timeless graphics, story is very convoluted as each expansion seem to rewrite parts of it and changes things. Crap crafting system but over all has a lot more in it than most other MMO’s. This is the game I’m currently playing so draw your own conclusions.
Note - where I mention P2W that refers to stuff that you can only get by paying real money for (ie not available through any in game actions).
