That’s not the feeling I had. He doesn’t deny knowing that misconduct issues have happened, he may not have known all the details included in the DFEH file. That being said, that doesn’t change anything from an outside perspective. It’s nice for Blizzard employees I guess, but it doesn’t bring anything new to the table in my opinion
In your opinion, we don’t know until we see any details of the investigation.
You are presuming an awful lot. There is nothing in the email to say they are covering anything up.
If anything they are trying to ensure any traumatised staff can talk to someone. Anonymously if necessary.
I’m not going to call you names.
No one is defending the company. Most have criticised where justified. There is no justification for the things you are assuming is said in this email. It’s just not there.
The investigation already has him named.
Only as people in charge though as far as I was aware, unless I missed something.
I was reponding to the claim that “J A Brack’s day as CEO are counted”.
I do expect some sort of “purge” so to say, that’s be naive to think there won’t be.
Too little too late. I seriously doubt that something is going to happen with him, but I’m hoping the bad press is going to push for changes in the company.
I guess, only that to be able to speak out you would have to give some details that can easily identify who you are. I don’t see how you would be able to keep anonymity even in these conditions.
There was a GM who related her story on reddit and coworkers immediately understood who she was and when did the events occur.
This is what should have been released as the press statement. Not that deflecting blame bs.

The only thing that makes me wonder is he is one of the 6 men sitting on a Blizzcon 2010 platform laughing at a woman who wanted less provocative armour on the female characters. Basically she and the next woman questioner (asking about female druid forms) were mocked by some of the panel who weren’t called out on it, while the male questioners were responded to seriously. https://youtu.be/Fi5dQzZp3f0 about 4 minutes 22 into the video.
I would like to think he’s changed - it’s possible he has from the email. I would like to think that the email isn’t just words but is showing his real desire to put things right. It’s not something that’ll have answers straight away but a long-term project to make sure everyone and every problem is heard.
So not about the email at all. No one is disputing the case being brought or the statement response by Blizzard.

What I understand from this:
- He’s acting like he had no idea this has been going on for years
- He wants to sweep this under the rug and move on as fast as possible
That’s your assumptions.
It is perfectly possible to not be aware, or not be aware it is a problem. I have very high tolerance for harrasment myself, and I’ve been told I’ve been sexually harassed in several situations I have not felt that way myself. He might not even have been aware of these accusations until now because he never saw or heard of these situations himself when it was going on.
That said, I haven’t paid attention to this case at all, so I might be talking about of nothing. I just heard that it had something to do with harassment, and quite honestly my tolerance levels for harassment is so high that I don’t care for these cases.

So not about the email at all
Can’t discuss the email without considering the whole situation. I have a hard time believing he just changed all of a sudden and he’s a great man who wants to do things right.

Too little too late. I seriously doubt that something is going to happen with him, but I’m hoping the bad press is going to push for changes in the company.
Oh I guarantee we will see more “leaked” emails from those higher up with little dribs and drabs about certain women they hold in high esteem and examples of what they’ve done for the fight for women’s rights etc etc and then we will see some new faces in the power positions and all of them will be female.
We might even get an accidental photo from an office within blizz hq with a Oprah Winfrey poster visible

I guess, only that to be able to speak out you would have to give some details that can easily identify who you are. I don’t see how you would be able to keep anonymity even in these conditions.
I imagine the outside agency involved will be able to keep anonymity, they probably wouldn’t even speak to blizzard at all but be more like a counselling services and will be 100% trained professionals to deal with issues like this.

I can see that some don’t believe that people didn’t know stuff like this went on.
There are two outcomes for this:
- He knew what is going on, and he didn’t do anything to stop it thus allowing bad things to keep happening.
- He didn’t know which means he is a grossly incompetent leader.

Only as people in charge though as far as I was aware, unless I missed something.
I dont know if you’re replying to me or Nedra (quoted Nedra but it says replied to me)
But he is named specifically as having known.
Blizzard president J. Allen Brack is specifically named as being aware of and enabling this sort of behavior, and an unnamed former Blizzard CTO “was observed by employees groping inebriated female employees at company events.” World of Warcraft senior creative director Alex Afrasiabi is also specifically named:
So, I don’t really know what makes you so confident in defending J. Allen Brack as being unaware of these conditions. The email implies he was unaware.

It is perfectly possible to not be aware, or not be aware it is a problem.
How was he not aware when Afrasiabi was harassing women in front of everyone?
Come on, let’s get real here, it’s even in the files that he kept “slapping him on the wrist” and eventually had to let him go because he was going too far.
He is doing exactly like Ubisoft CEO did, wonder if Brack asked him for advice.
You clearly can’t. You are out to crucify anyone at Blizzard. That much is clear.
I’m going to see how it unfolds. I’m not ready to villify anyone without facts. I have a lot of questions that I hope we see answered.
Blizzard is definitely the villain in this entire scenario.

So not about the email at all. No one is disputing the case being brought or the statement response by Blizzard.
The e-mail is about J. Allen Brack doing a “wowsers, harassment at my company? unacceptable!” so I’d say it’s very relevant.

I was reponding to the claim that “J A Brack’s day as CEO are counted”.
I do expect some sort of “purge” so to say, that’s be naive to think there won’t be.
That’s for good reason. Sexism accusations at Ubisoft were mostly in the Toronto studio, while Guillemot works from his offices in France. It’s a lot more conceivable that he didn’t know what was going on that Brack.
