That had to happen.

Good.

Unfortunate circumstances, but best decision he could have made.

Was just about to.post this- saved me a job

No longer a rock star devs, and big cats smelled weakness to tighten the grip on Blizzard.
i assume we can expect more direct control from parent company from now on.

J Allen Brack :“What are you doing my son?”
Ion Hazziarthas “Succeeding you, father”

Or (and im quoting a dude on fb)

“He thinks he wants to leave, but he really doesn’t!”

I don’t know these two people but here’s what I do know:

  1. The Microsoft guy almost certainly knows Phil Spencer and Phil Spencer is flippin’ awesome. Hopefully something’s gonna rub off there if it hasn’t already.
  2. Vicarious Visions is known for a good work environment and high quality remakes
  3. Jay Brack is awful. He really is. He ruined WoW completely, just as he did with the MMO he worked on beforehand.

This is very good news. We’ll see how it turns out but I’m optimistic.

He was doomed the moment it was revealed his response to Afrasiabi was to try and ‘talk to him’ about his problems.

Repeatedly.

He gave his bro all the chances he could no matter how many people Afrasiabi went onto victimise. Afrasiabi should have been terminated much, much earlier.

Whether he went of his own accord after he realised his position was no longer tenable or Bobby give him a good, hard shove in advance of today’s likely poor Q2 financials is immaterial, he was going to go.

Not sure how to feel given I don’t particularly know either of those names very well. But I hope for the shady past and all Ion goes too.

I look forward to the day this happens and literally nothing changes and you all realise he’s just another pawn

I was actually genuinely worried we’d never get rid of him and that he’d drive Blizzard into the ground, just like he did SOE and Star Wars Galaxies.

No idea who this two are but can’t be worse than JAB.

Point 2 was my first thoughts, Vicarious Visions have been an absolute high for ages and they’re currently developing D2:R which has been noted for it’s consistently listened to feedback, even down the design on the health potions being tweaked at community requests.

It makes me very optimistic.

Blizzard Share Holders: “After the down fall of Subs, constant negative feed back and the recent allegations towards your team, we believe the best thing for the company would be you to leave”

J Allen: “You think you know what’s good for the company, you think you know what you want, but you don’t”

Shareholders: “No, we really want you to leave”

J Allen: “You think you do, but you don;t”

Shareholders: “No… We really…”

J Allen: “You think you…”

Shareholders: “SECURITY”

Yeah right. The man who accepted the game with a half-empty audience and made Legion must leave. Good point, nothin elvish about dat.

I don’t think Ion has done a stellar job but I also feel like he understood the problems whenever I listened to interviews with him.

It was so friggin’ weird - like someone was forcing his hand.

I hope I’m right. If not, having the leader of Vicarious Visions as the President means we have someone who knows what a good product is. The only question is if she can stand up to Bobby.

I respect ION
but now it’s shadowlands and game didn’t move into any interesting direction from there
legion was i say a very well crafter but what came after it was copy paste of legion but worse much much worse and even now you can see it in shadowlands

Nevertheless, after draenor, take a half-dead game with lore killed by Metzen and without fear try to revive it worthy of respect.
