We know that Tyrande and the souls of the innocents that were slain during the Burning of Teldrassil will play a role in Shadowlands, which got me thinking that Jaina should also have a similar story arc in Shadowlands, involving the souls of the innocents who were killed at Theramore.
I hate how Blizzard has completely forgotten about Theramore after MoP ended. Don’t forget that its destruction was no different from the Burning of Teldrassil, it was a brutal act of aggression of massive proportions. The entire city was obliterated, all of its defenders were incinerated, and while several citizens survived, many others were not so lucky and ended up becoming prisoners of Garrosh’s troops (they were treated as animals, forced to fight each others to amuse the orcs, or were just brutally executed for no reason). It was such a horrible act of cruelty that black flags were raised in every building of Stormwind to mourn the fallen.
With this in mind, since we’re going to the Shadowlands, it would be very appreciated if Jaina had a questline in which she met some of her dear loved ones who were lost at Theramore, such as her young gnomish apprentice whose death particularly shattered Jaina. These souls should know that the monster who caused their deaths has been brought to justice, and that Jaina was not consumed by vengeance and hatred. It’s the only way they can truly move on in peace.
Or well if this doesn’t happen I will take solace in the fact that Garrosh will 100% go to the Maw like the complete psycopath he was…
Atleast Garrosh and his loyalists were killed for that, now if we look at Teldrassil on the other hand, justice was denied entirely and kind of nobody was to blame for it after all. It just happened
I wouldn’t mind that, but the point of Tyrande’s questline is to save a few of her people from the maw, jaina doesn’t have that issue.
I personally think that Jaina got enough attention in BfA already, but I don’t think you’ll have any influence on the 9.0 Story, especially not by posting here.
Well… I don’t want to weight atrocities with each other but genociding a race and destroying one city of said race is a difference.
To compare it properly I’d say the Destruction of theramore was more in line with that auf Astranaar.
But they mentioned theramore in BFA when Baine brought Daelin which happened at Theramore to Jaina, Jaina asked wether he is the new bomb and nearly casted a frostbolt at Baine.
After that Jaina stood at Thunderbluff comparin this to Theramore.
So no it was not forgotten but for some reason Jaina is changing her views every expansion … she is is called to be flip floping for a reason.
The problem here is … well that she somehow forgave it now? And thus it is hard to have a storyline with it in SL to again have her flip floping into the other direction.
To be fair, I also would like to have her taking a back seat now.
Blizzard seems to have no idea where to go with that character for the moment so they should just stop and rethink.
Actually chances are that Garrosh is in Ravendreth.
The Maw seems to be for those who failed in Ravendreth. And the coming Afterlife cinematic hinted a male orc of garroshs statue chained before a venthyr.
Here is a problem: prior to the moment when “machine of death” was broken, souls should be “recycled” is Shadowlands. And it has some peculiar consequences.
For example, is Derek Proudmoore really Derek? It should not be possible to drag the soul out of a covenant once it’s there already. Or is it only a part of Derek? Unless, of course, he ended up in Revendreth and his soul was smuggled out because of some Denathrius shenanigans.
Well, Theramore is one of places where Jaina led some survived lordaeronians. And the story of the living side of Lordaeron was swept aside for a long time, only with some recent hints at focusing more on the subject. Limited resources maybe? I mean, they are activision-blizzard after all. Shareholders, all that stuff.
Could be the case. There might be some interesting interactions. Shadowlands is a place where the devs can come up with many things for a long time.
Her story arc was so strange to me, that I would not mind if the devs would place her on the periphery of the story.
I know, consider this a random thought I had this morning. The Fall of Theramore was a very emotional moment in MoP, and Jaina seems to have forgotten about it entirely. In 8.2 she touches the bicep of Thrall, the man who put Garrosh in charge and is indirectly responsible for what happened to Theramore. It would be the same as Tyrande flirting with Nathanos or Saurfang…
And yes I know Thrall couldn’t have known Garrosh would do something like this, but he himself feels responsible for what happened with Garrosh and Theramore so yeah.
I really don’t care about every character getting some “meaningful” moments with some dead people… Or at least not in the game. Can we focus on putting stuff like that in short stories and novels, where they can have converstions without us lurking over their shoulder and everyone speaking more than 5 sentences?
