When looking at Ring of Earthen Craftmanship in the recipe tab it says “Expected quality: Rank5”, but when trying to recraft the ring for an alt, I can only get it up to Rank4 even when using max quality materials and applying Concentration.
When crafting the same ring in Patron orders, they become rank5.
I’ve fully specced for Jewelrycrafting > Rings and maxed out Jewelcrafting, the only 1 blue tool, rest are green.
But I don’t understand I need all blue tools when it say expected quality r5 in the recipe tab view and I can craft rank5 for patrons.
Any ideas? Or should I report it as a bug?
Ring was originally crafted with r1 or r2 mats and game remembers that. If you recraft it twice with r3 mats, you will be able to reach rank5.
Also the patron work orders may not use the same crest. You may be able to craft a patron work order to rank 5 when the mid crest is used resulting in 619 ilvl. But to craft rank 5 with the max lvl crest making it 636 ilvl that takes alot more skill.
Wow okay… Is it supposed to be like that? Seems weird, but I’ll try, thanks!
I’m using the mid crest (up to 619) which is why I found it a bit strange.
as Ponder said… recraft is like a new craft, where ~half of the material is new and half of it is taken from the previous craft. Many people don’t know this and assume that if they recraft with top quality material they got guaranteed a Q5 item, but they don’t if the “old” half is of lower quality and only a concentration or a multi recraft will help to get it to Q5. I recommend people to use the more expensive Q3 material when crafting weapons and armor that will go with them for the entire datadisk, because that way they will avoid problems (and the concentration is not free either).
Aye. This is especially noticable if someone for ex thought they´d just get it crafted with an r1 missive and embellishment to save money, which then requires either a double recraft with all R3 to first hit R4 and then R5 and /or the replacement of Both missives with R3 to hit R5 on teh first recraft.
As in real life, “Saving money” on important items is oftentimes more expensive in teh end than just doing it right the first time.
Sure, but R3 crafting materials used to be horribly expensive, now they are just expensive.
And on my crafters I could not even make R3 materials without spending all kp in materials.
So it does make sense.
Yes, it used to make sense financially when R3 mats weren´t quasi growing on trees…
But as far as prices have dropped since release 2 months ago (primarily because both gatherers and thauma alchis are for the most part now maxed in the key specializations), the concentration cost and/ or mats cost for the double recraft will now more often than not cost more than a direct R3 mats craft for an R5 piece…
But it of course also depends somewhat on the item, for ex an epic smithing item that requires half a dozen santified alloys + ironclaw alloys and a weapon grip etc is more likely to still be cheaper with low+2x recraft than say a Ring of Earthen Craftsmanship that “only” costs 1 blasphemite, 6 onxy and 20 marbled stone
I agree, ‘it used to make sense’.
Q2 missives and emb. problem can be fixed using skill books fortunately.I got many +5, +10 and +20 those books. You can also use them to match the race skill bonus if necessary. These books are very smart idea from Blizzard devs.
