ok guys just 2 questions… How long can live a dwarf and second, was titan keeper Thorim known in Ironforge during 2nd war?
We’ve no exact numbers but 200 seems to be the age where you’re considered to be pretty old, I believe.
And for the second question, I don’t believe so. I think we found out about the titans during WoW’s time. Could be wrong about that though.
thanks…I need to little modify my backstory, but thats no problem… thank you for help
Dwarves live to be 300 years old, more or less, at their peak. It would be exceedingly rare for a Dwarf to be much older than that, though not impossible.
As for Titan Keeper Thorim? The Dwarves did not know of his existence until the rediscovery of Ulduar, as far as I am aware. That said, if you wanted to have some sort of shattered fragment alluding to him that would be fine. Just make it abstract. The sorta thing where we (the player) know it’s Thorim, but the character in-world would be left scratching his head.
Some of the other people are misleading you.
There are no solid ages or lifespans for most races. The only source for this comes from the old RPG, which is no longer canon, so any information from it is now of dubious authenticity. It may have come from Blizzard telling RPG people authoritative answers. It may have been made by the RPG people, so is now essentially fan fiction. The sad real answer is “we don’t know”.
The stories of the Titans and their Keepers were myths for dwarves, per Chronicle. So they knew there was a Thorim and he had a wife that died, but they could not know he was a real person.
this… thank you so much! So it should be ok to have name Thornul as memento for Thorim myth. Point is… I am preparing my backstory for classic. Thornul name from Thorim… and well about age… I am looking for this because I need to know when my character should be born. I would be very happy if he would remember first war and still not be too old to be adventure in wow. But if we dont know their lifespan I just make him young and veteran of 3rd war (which originally was my first wow character-I just loved riflemen unit in warcraft 3).
Unfortunately I don’t remember where, but I’m sure I read somewhere that dwarves live significantly longer than RL humans (at least twice as long).
Might have been one of those dubious sources that Eodhain mentioned, though…
To draw on in-game sources, however, there are many examples of characters of almost any race being splendid soldiers/fighters/anythings at an age where RL humans would be well into retirement.
I’d say your WoW Classic experienced dwarf soldier/wizard/whatever could safely have fought in the first and/or second war
(although the first war was mostly just Stormwind getting its butt kicked, wasn’t it? I believe the dwarves - and gnomes for that matter - joined the Alliance during the second war)
and your veteran dwarf should still be in excellent fighting condition in Classic (which begins only 25 years after the beginning of the first war).
Heck, I’ve seen guys in their sixties at my local gym, who could match or surpass military recruits in their twenties or late teens
