I agree, I actually think PvP gearing is better than M+ or raiding right now, because you can actually target the gear you want without depending on RNG.
So was Reforging to remove some of a useless secondary stat and put more in a good one.
Unfortunately they decided players didn’t like to do that and just wanted to equip the gear. Even though it only took a few minutes just to go to reforger and do that.
Reforging was originally removed because Expertise and Hit cap. Now that those are gone it should just find it’s way back into the game.
Reforging was overkill tbh. It blurred the line between items too much. They should bring sockets back, instead. Those allowed for great customizability while keeping loot unique.
They should also just bring back hit, expertise, defense etc. tbh. I miss optimizing and thinking avout my gear. Now it’s far too much about just ilvl and “does it have x stat” yes or no.
You miss it? I sure don’t. Running simulations on whether or not a massive item level upgrade would actually be an upgrade, and if you could afford being 0.14% under hit cap was really bad.
Agreed. Pvp gearing is better than pve… First time in any expansion I feel forced to pvp for gear because it’s so much more reliable than pve and more rewarding too.

Currency systems suck. No excitement in gear, just a mathematical calculation of “3 more weeks and I can go to a vendor and buy an item!”. Currency-driven MMOs are dreary calendar simulators.
At most it should be a mix - perhaps jewelry slots are a compromise.

As opposed to RNG-based, “house always wins”-biased legalized fraud… um I meant slot machine simulators that are OH SO NEW AND EXCITING MY BUTT! when you feel that adrenaline rush for the 165374th time when it doesn’t give you gear?
You know why badges etc were introduced in the first place? To protect players from being screwed too much by bad RNG. So not all of your gear depended solely on RNG - maybe you get it, maybe you don’t, doesn’t matter what you do, doesn’t matter how good you are, only matters if RNG likes you today. This was bad for the game based on, y’know, players fighting each other. This was also why the mix was healthy and why PvP gearing based on currency - giving players control over their gearing - was better than placing everything at mercy of slot machine that did nothing but screw you.

Well generally speaking, hit cap was the most important by far, so you didn’t really need to sim that.
Of course I did. But it just made those BiS items not be as big of a deal.
Yeah at least raiding loot scales with how many people you get.
M+ is just two pieces per run, only one if u can’t time it which is pathetically low, Blizz just bring back PvE currency at 9.1 and leave it at that.
It’s the other way around, it was originally ADDED because of expertise and hit cap. After those got removed there was no need for reforging anymore and there is no need now.
