Just buff it

Now that we’ve established no power gains from double legendaries, we’re left only with the most un-inspiring fire mage tier set effect of the expansion.

You could’ve at least picked something older than the literal last two expansions (BFA for the lucid and Antorus for the 2p 2sec, laughable).

Anyway, with the rate power gains are spiking all over the place: fire will be left in the dirt for the remainder of the patch, unless we get a slight buff to our borrowed power. The base is good, its everything else that sucks.

Just buff it.
Please.

Honestly, as a fire mage, I feel I have been under performing for the entire patch. Even before others were getting Tier Set pieces.

Fire Mage, a spec that I was forced to switch to, but ultimately I fell in love with during 9.0, now just feels like a Mechagnomes used wet nappy.

I have actually had players tell me that my DPS has been unacceptable in M+, and quite honestly as a competent Fire Mage it has been embarrassing. I have no time or interest in learning another specs, I don’t really want to play another class. I am just so disappointed that I have just lost the desire to play WoW at all anymore, and have barely played for the past 2 weeks.

I’ll give it another go when Creation Catalyst lets me start crafting set pieces (I have 1 piece so far). But I’m not really expecting great things anymore.

I don’t want to burst your bubble but the tier set gains are abysmally low too, with the full set bringing only around 8% compared to no set.

To make things worse, the rwf fire mages made it look a LOT better than it actually is due to Power Infusions. Take note, a PI will realistically net gain you ~15%, and its still considered a balanced innocent buff ability.

That’s what happens when you nerf a spec by over 12% after the first patch, as a reaction to MDI degenerates. Fire was already a corpse at the beginning of 9.1 and was only propped up again by changing the Sun King legendary, which made it entirely a single target spec. Add terrible tier set and covenant legendaries and you have the steaming pile of today.

My mage has 10ilvls and a 2set over my dh. Took my dh out for a spin the other day and it does more dmg on ST and on cleave. Looking at warcraftlogs I think there is a lot of tuning to be done, top to bottom on ST there is a 25% difference so I assume there will be a lot more to come after this reset. Copium.

Talking about underperforming - same thing happens to me.
With my 168 ilvl lock and can solo the last campaign but with my 225 ilvl mage… omg - i die almost instantly.
I hope they will fix the mage(and dh - that one dies fast too) because is such a fun class to play.

Good news! Other classes like Druids/Locks/Warriors etc got buffed today, yay…cause they really needed it. I mean druids getting a buffed! lol ok. Clearly Blizzard staff do not play the game

Its strange. Every time I see these Class Balancing notes, I keep scanning looking for where it says “Fire Mage”. I can’t work out why we are being ignored, right now. I feel like a 9.0 frost mage.

And then there’s our outdated “talents” like Blast wave, From the ashes, Blazing soul, Focus magic (lol) I could go on but you get the jist. I switched to Arcane and Frost recently, frost was ok ish, arcane was just depressing to play

Yeah outdated talents (and ones we’re permanently locked into) are a whole different story.

Big immediate concern is extremely poor performance in all areas (except maybe pvp, but they make sure to nerf it there on a weekly basis).

At the moment it feels like just getting a couple of casts off is success

I love fire, but I cant play it in his current state. I switched to my alt and now is my main until they fix fire. Since I don’t know if they will fix it or if it will stay like this for years.

Outside combustion, crap damage.

M+ damage is good. Our ST is decent and our AoE is great! Biggest problem (since they broke ignite) is our cleave is awful and there’s a lot of cleave in this raid.

Maybe some changes to living bomb so its actually usable. Buffs to conflag… Atm Frost does better ST and is a cleave specialist.

Well it looks like they listened to us a little bit:

  • Fire
    • (2) Set Bonus: Increases the duration of Combustion by 4 sec, up from 2 sec.
      • This change does not apply to PvP combat.
    • Fireball damage increased by 20%.
      • This change does not apply to PvP combat.
    • Fire Blast damage increased by 10%.
      • This change does not apply to PvP combat.
    • Pyroblast damage increased by 6%.
      • This change does not apply to PvP combat.

coming April 6th

I guess we can’t have mage spec being better than fire.

Absolutely not! Never!

Now the only thing they need to do is add Scorch to Death´s Fathom and Fire might actually be useful again.

What Fire needs, (outside of a complete rework/reversion to a previous state) is more cleave/low target number AoE damage.

Fire does alright on ST and on massive AoE, but then you come to the average pack pull of 3 to 5 mobs without Combustion up, you end up pulling tank or sub-tank levels of damage.

I play Fire for PvP, Torghast and open world content but I just can’t bring myself to let my team down by playing it in M+ with randos, especially knowing how much consistent damage I can do as Arcane.

It won’t be enough to outpace Frost in SFO. It’s roughly a 5% increase overall.

It’ll be enough to dig us out of the bottom.

Frost will still be better overall in the raid because of the cleave fights. Might still be better ST tbh.
