Unpopular opinion. But in casual PvP arcane its absolutely great.
high survivability, slippy as all hell to catch and massive single target burst on 1.5m CD. With high burst every 45s too. Personally I really enjoy it
Fun doesn’t always have to mean the most efficient or most effective.
I think frost performs TOO well, but find it dull. But I find arcane alot of fun. Even if you have to juggle the interupts or dupe/force pre-cog before burst or cc.
I also miss temporal shield massively when I respec. Prismatic barrier reducing spell dmg by 24% and duration of DoTs 40% is fantastic too!
Give arcane interupt protection through PoMind and it’d be damn near perfect for me. Plus - so many purple swirlies.
while i do agree that it feels pretty good to pull stuff off as an arcane in pvp
the time sink invested to be able to perform just about the same as mid of the pack makes it not worth it in most cases
its different if you are lime me and u are addicted to mage gameplay… but if i invested the time i invested in boomie, hunter, warlock, sp , ele, i know i would be doing better by default
feels like mage miss damage still, literal baseline dmg, modifiers are okay, its just baseline dmg that makes it impossible to kill outside totm spark in most cases
It was decent in the beginnig of the season when Blizz introduced a Sunfury playstyle. Then they ruined everything by nerfing Sunfury to the ground and forcing players that spent alot of time learning and mastering the Sunfury playstyle switch back to Spellslinger which is currently undertuned and at the bottom of dps charts.
Honestly ignore the naysayers. If you look at warcraft logs of the top 100 mages for Queen Ansurek as an example. You see an equal mix of Frost, Fire and Arcane mages battling it out. All three specs aren’t in a terrible spot. Arcane could use with a little more love. But its still competing.
You also have to take logs with a pinch of salt as well… external buffs etc
Pick your spec, and playstyle then gear towards it. Each spec requires different secondary stat priorities. So you can’t just switch specs and use the same gear and expect similar results. But all specs are quite viable and can compete on the meters.
