'Just ignore it'

I’m sorry that people like him make you feel that way.

I was just about to say something similar. I’m part of the LGBT+ community and people like him make me feel legit unsafe to go out and talk to strangers in case they’re like him.

Throwing out accusations are we?

The thing is, my lovely, I’m not a transphobe. I’ve not made horrible jokes nor shared my unwarranted trash takes on gender in sports. You have nothing on me, because it doesn’t exist.

And if I did make offensive remarks, I would really want to be called out for it. Genuinely. Because I like to see my mistakes, acknowledge, apologise and strive to be a better person.

Note that, although this post is intended to make more of an expanded response to the transphobia that is being referred to in this conversation, I’m not actually directing it toward the perpetrator. It’s just a point that could be learned from in general, I feel.

The topic of trans people in sports is a really hot button issue at the moment, spreading across almost every major sporting institution from FIFA to the Olympics. Although studies have been shown to largely disprove this, there is an extraordinary amount of disinformation speaking about unfair advantages, abuses, and so on. While it’s transphobic to parrot these misleading positions, it doesn’t necessarily make the person doing the parroting transphobic.

It is very easy to fall to misinformation during this age of the internet. Millions of well-meaning people are led astray by hostile agendas. They’re responsible for educating themselves, but they’re not guilty - the intentional liars are guilty.

However, what is indicative of a person being outright a transphobe is aggressively defending that misinformation whilst at the same time angrily ignoring or criticising the studies and research that contradict the narrative that they have bought into. This is no longer a case of simple, accidental ignorance. It is wilful ignorance. It is intentional.

That on its own is a problematic position to take and one that I would (and frequently do) seriously condemn. But going beyond the notion of an ‘unfair advantage’ and protecting sporting ethics, it is incredibly hurtful & offensive to suggest that transfemme people only transition in order to, and I broadly paraphrase, ‘beat women bloody’. That claim is based on nothing and it maliciously depicts trans people as the villains. It follows bigoted lines that queer people are abusers.

What these claims do is normalises and encourages oppression and repression of trans people. Rather than protecting others from a make-believe threat, it subjects queer folk to a very real threat. It makes trans people fall under the risk of violence and murder, at its worst.

The only conscionable thing to do if you’re guilty of this and have been called out as such, is to apologise and educate yourself. Pointing fingers at other people for doing something else is not helpful, it is cowardly and its only purpose is to shift guilt away from yourself and toward another. Doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down makes one thing very clear – you know what you’re doing is wrong, you know that it’s inaccurate, and you know that it is harmful, and you simply don’t care.

It’s a frightening lack of empathy for your fellow people. I don’t expect said person will learn from this, as I said at the start, but I still think it was important to have it said.

I’m implying you are worse because you are. I absolutely despise pronoun jokes, but again, he apologised for it and has never made one ever again.

You hide it behind “its just a sport opinion” and even when asked and BEGGED to stop using certain phrases, you trippled down and claimed everyone was just biased and you knew by fact that you were right.

You are worse because you truly believe what you spout out of sheer hatred.

Well yeah, Id personally 100% believe you guys capable of transphobia, seing as if I point out a transphobic joke you guys will try to lynch me over it and pass it off as a “poor taste joke”, so yes I 100% believe all of you very very capable of transphobia and defending transphobia.

What a lovely Sunday, I wonder what interesting concepts or debates my roleplaying pals are coming up with today --…

So how about that new dragon-riding feature

So to clarify…

Sig made trans-exclusionary comments and now WE are the transphobes.
How did he pull that on us? Have we been played?

I’m quite excited to try it out actually! It looks cool on videos.

And he’s too scared to admit it even though it’s on the forums clear as day.

Sig mentioned a talking point in mma, you guys tried to lynch Sig over pointing out someone who made a pronoun jokes, yes, your transphobes.

True, this is the same dude that got into trouble in previous guilds for spreading anti-vaccine misinformation.

It’s good, but I’ve heard human male paladins can spout bad opinions at the dragon in order to drive it off course. They’re looking to correct this issue though.

They played us like a damned fiddle!

Watch, the next Jade Witch that pops up and I say something? You’ll throw yourself on a sword for them and make the thread about me.

Admit you did wrong.

There’s a difference between a joke and an opinion.

It is my opinion that BN Biscuits are the best biscuit ever. This is my mindset. I am not joking when I say that BN Biscuits are the best biscuit ever.

When I say; “What’s delicious and goes ‘meow’? A bis-cat!” I am joking. It is intended to be humorous, but does not necessarily reflect my mindset.

Both can be just as offensive, however.

Why is Sig being referred to in third person? Have Sig had to bring someone on to type out his weak arguments because he is in the corner absolutely malding?

A sports opinion, or an offensive joke? hmmm, stop it lmao.

Was listening to an old Contrapoints video and she said how she wouldn’t go into certain pubs or bars because she couldn’t be sure the patrons would defend her if a man who is coming onto her clocks her.
