Just logged back in after a while away and all my character names have been changed

So why is this Blizzard please? What gives you the right to do this to my account? How do I get these things restored again?

I had a few good names like John. These have been changed to JohnXYZ. I wouldn’t mind if I hadn’t spent £100’s on this game.

If this can’t be undone then I think it’s game over once and for all for WoW.

Let’s see, if you’ve been away for 2 expansions your name will be released automatically and can be claimed by other players by the system.

Blizzard owns all rights to your account, it’s right there in the Terms. Feel free to browse it over. https://www.blizzard.com/legal/

You could petition Blizzard to see if something can be done about it, but I sincerely doubt it.

Well, I’ve been inactive for one expansion. So that’s clearly not what’s happened.
I guess Blizzard employees can just hijack whatever they like, given that they ‘own all the rights to my account’?

Edit: It has been determined that it was atleast 2 expansions contrary to OP’s claim.

It’s not just one name, it’s several names and across different realms. There was absolutely no question of them breaching any rule, as they were standard names you’d encounter in everyday life.

I suspect GM’s have just been helping themselves while accounts are inactive. Pretty unprofessional conduct.

[Edit] I can’t even appeal them all as I’ve reached the max number of tickets and still have another three names that have had AF310A or XYZ or something added after them… outrageous.

Hey Science,

It seems that those characters were simply inactive for too long, and as such were freed up when someone else tried to use the name. For more information on this, have a look into the support article Saneko linked previously.

One ticket to have this looked into is enough, you do not need to open a new ticket for every character that you’d like to have checked.

It’s been at least two expansions, your maximum level character was 100, that’s Warlords of Draenor max level. two expansions ago, since then there has been Legion and Battle for Azeroth.

Edit: looks like you last played in 2014, you have no legion class hall achievements either.
