Kael'thas Sunstrider's Story

Apart from the spoilers, predict what could be the course of actions or events for Kael’thas Sunstrider in the story of the Shadowlands.

Thank you very much!

He will rejoin his true people, the Blood elves, and aid them thriving at every chance he can. After his betrayal he owes us at least that much.

The most logical thing would probably him becoming part or leader of one of the houses? there.

I doubt he will come back to life after the expansion.
The only place so far where rebirth can happen is Ardenweald and this is a different story path.

However since he is friends with Tyrande there might be some interaction in the future which can be interesting, especially since she hunts down one of his former kin.
Kael could maybe even feel obligated to help, especially since she basically teamed up with kel thuzad.
Some “You know Kael, you were right with that revenge thing back then, lets kick their buts”

A lot of possibilities here.

He’ll become Arthas’ and Kel’Thuzad’s personal torturer and squeeze the anima out of them to make a new crimson Sunwell in the afterlife as recompense.
He’ll also finally get his shot with Jaina until Thrall steals her back to the world of the living.

Offtop:

Imagine all of them meeting each other. Arthas, Jaina, Kael. Just Kalecgos is missing.

I imagined transitions that would be from the Shadowlands towards Azeroth, I wonder how they will be if they happen, in terms of revival of characters, through a gateway or through change of dimensions I reckon.

But they can leave the shadowlands we saw that with Graka, so it might be that they can leave if not perminatly perhaps for a short time.

+Thrall as the wild card.
Could be a very awkward situation

Well I am not against it, I liek Kael way better than the sorry excuses BEs have currently, but I can’t see that happen. Because there is practicly no need after they have built up Lor Themar.

However what I could see is if soemthing dire happens to Silvermoon.
There is that Warfront in Silvermoon that was datamined in BFA but never used.

I have a feeling we will see the WF system return in SL and with it these not used WF that were in development.
Turalyon hinted at old alliance zones and Aleria wants Silvermoon back. So I can see an attack there and maybe this could trigger events where the current leaders of Silvermoon get replaced.

Just some random thoughts. Not really thinking it will happen.

I hope they rework the whole of Quel’Thalas and by extension the continent of Lordaeorn in more detail. Especially Gilneas too, it such a wasted asset and dead zone at the moment.
The fact they’ve gone out of their way to reintroduce a Menethil, and subtlety hint at Turalyon (the acting faction leader) wanting to reclaim old Alliance lands makes me thing something big is on the cards if not during SL then soon after.
His wife Alleria wanting to bring Silvermoon into the Alliance is just another reason for them to look at the content of these zones again. It’s like they’re building a case for aggressive expedition into these lands on the part of the Alliance which will remap the entire geography of the region if they continue to build on their success in Stromgarde.

This whole landmass is probably one of the most important and lore rich places in all of Warcraft’s history, yet relatively speaking very little current content takes place in those zones in the current WoW setting.
This is barring a number of exceptions like the Siege of Undercity scenario, the Arathi warfront along with a small number of other times the PC has had to stop by the area such as during the Legion class hall quests.
Overall though, not much has changed in a meaningful way since Cata and probably to some extent since Vanilla.
The whole place is sorely in need of an update and many of the zones feel locked in some sort of post WC3/Scourge period. But, I do understand resources and time have to be dedicated to implement these types of mass changes and redevelopments, so it’s something that will likely have to come from a major patch or as part of a new expansion itself.

I know this deviates quite a bit from OP’s topic but, I thought it’s worth mentioning, even if it’s just to get ideas flowing.

With respect to Kael’thas, I don’t think he will be coming back to the world of the living as I’ve mentioned before on an older post.
More likely he will play a critical role in the Venthyr covenant moving forward as part of his atonement process.
By doing so helping to reform or at least keep other villains like Kel’Thuzad from threating the living and by extension his own kin. This could be seen as a form of penance where he tragically failed in large part to do so in life leading his people to the brink of damnation in the quest to save them from their addiction.
He’s portrayed as a bit of a flaw character to say the least, so this would help to show some process of reconciliation.
We might even see this come to fruition in some manner if rumours are correct and Lor’themar is eventually guided to meet him face to face.
(Possibly by some sort of Virgil character?)
Through this meeting we would get a better understanding of both their future intentions too.
Although this is pure speculation, I have a feeling this is the setting where we will see Lor’themar confront Kael for answers and where both of them come to terms with what happened during the events of TBC.
Finally once the past is settled (and possibly forgiven) this is where the baton of leadership will be passed on with the start of a new Theron dynasty for the Blood Elves. This will allow them to move on from the past and forge on into the future anew.

As the proverb goes, “the path to hell is paved with good intentions”.
This very much fits the Dante’s inferno Kael’thas now finds himself in repenting for his past transgressions but who still very much wishes to protect his people in what ways he can. Even from beyond the grave as a reformed punisher of the wicked where finally he can play the martyr for his people he portrayed himself to be in life.

As much as I like Kael, I agree with that, mainly because it wouldn’t be really fair for the other races if only the Blood Elves benefitted from a returning dead character…to keep things fair, Uther should have to return among the Humans (even if just the ones of Stormwind), Garrosh (if redeemed) then should return among the Orcs, hell maybe Sylvanas herself (if redeemed) should return to the Forsaken eventually…but that would be a mess for the story so it’s very unlikely Blizzard would do that.

However, I would like if there was a special rule for the redeemed souls in the Shadowlands working sorta like in Dragon Ball Z…where a dead person actually can be able to return from the afterlife among the living for just a single day (as Goku did it). During those 24 hours Kael’thas would have time to visit Quel’thalas (possibly updated and/or revamped for the occasion), he looks at how much it has changed and it has been rebuilt with the restored light-infused Sunwell ( technically he helped in his creation despite he was a villain back then), and then he makes a speech in front of all the people in Silvermoon explaining what happened to him after the insanity of joining the Legion and his own death in the Shadowlands, saying that he’s proud of them for not giving up and that Lor’themar is officially the new King of Quel’thalas now. I feel like if it’s from an official speech of Kael’thas in front of all the people, Lor’themar wouldn’t be able to refuse and finally accepts his new role as King. After all Rommath already proposed that…yes I know it’s a bit cheesy but it’s the only way to make Kael’thas return and visit Quel’thalas even if just for a while, and make Lor’themar the new king :stuck_out_tongue:

I already can imagine how it could go

To a blood elf character:

None of these venthyr are fit to judge my choices in life! Nor are you!

p.s.: I expect him to be a great character to quest with :joy:
