Keep pushing champions!
Theres different skill levels in everything.
I know someone who uses no addons and is doing 22+ keys.
I also know someone who uses a ton of addons and are hard stuck at +10.
Addons just bring out potential of players, doesnât make players more skillful.
Classic andies canât raid mythic or reach elite rank in arena even if you give them all available weakauras and addons. Those people can barely utilize 3-4 button rotation.
There is different skill levels.
It is combination of both experience, practice, talent and UI & addon usage.
A LFR guy can not mythic raid with UI & addon usage because the LFR guy doesnât have enough practice at first place.
Difference in skill level, you can take away all of echos addons, and theyâll still be a top 3 guild in the world.
Some people just like to say its addons as the alternative is admitting theyâre not as good as they think.
Bosses with good choreography donât need addons.
There are different type of skill / capability.
There is good hand-eye co-ordination.
There is understanding your class / spec and how to gear, gem, enchant your character as well as select the best talents (for your playstyle).
There is knowing your spell book and using these most efficiently (rotation).
There is knowing the mechanics of the fights.
Guides and AddOns can help with the last 3 but the 1st is more-or-less innate (although practice can improve things slightly). Even with Guides and AddOns though the others still require memory and concentration that will vary from player to player.
Mhm yeah itâs magic, you download an addon and before you know it youâre being recruited by Echo!
Simply displaying more information does not make you a better player unless you have the experience and skill to process it during the fight.
WoW is about multitasking and perception so after each wipe you can figure out how to do better.
Based on the general mistakes people are making in raids:
- Not able to press abilities and move at the same time.
- Oblivious to raid warnings to the extent that they need people calling out mechanics for them.
- Have general rotational issues.
I can a 100% confirm it to you that there are different skill level in wow.
It is a common misconception that addons play the game for people. You can display every possible information to people, but there wonât be that many who can make use of that information.
You can try it yourself. In my experience: Not true, but itâs also not 100% false either. Lots of people would not perform well without addons
Yep

I know youre one of those âthread a dayâ people until a shiny piece of tinsel distracts you to something else, but really?
Basically what puny said, should i download every addin and WA pack and hop in a world first guild?
getting boosted is the easiest way to pretend youre a good player
Which is why most RLs who ask for curve also check logs.
Addons help with awareness and resource management but you still need to perform and have a fast enough reaction for it all to matter. And addons wonât generally help you to make a better judgement in a high stress situation, like for example, where to stand on encrouching spiders while expecting adds to spawn in Yazma fight.
Still, I would be the last person to defend addons here and I really wish most of them would just go. Itâs unbelievably hard to make an old friend return to the game if they still remember how bothersome and unfun it is to setup all your addons there.
There are different skill levels as in all games.
The weak auras help, but they dont make the difference between a normal and Mythic raider.
If you suck, you suck in any content, it just shows up more the higher you go.
You mean like the 3k Warlock that pulls 300k dps but can not move out of the fire or frozen orb Literally came out of an Everbloom +17 and this is what happened. So no Addons are not magically going to make you a âgood playerâ.
I play with barely any addons in general and I am able to play, for example, Mythic keys on difficulties up to +20.
So no, addons alone donât make you a better player. You definitely need some level of player skill to get up there in difficult content.
Addons help, but they canât replace skill and smarts.
An idiot with addons is still an idiot.
