After the latest patch update two of my keybinds are not working anymore while running/holding W.
I have travel form bound to Q, before the patch I could run forward (w) and press Q to instantly go into travel form. The same for keybinds in Cat/Bear form. After the patch this isn’t working anymore while I didn’t change anything.
It does work when:
-Release W, press Q, press w again.
-Press two mousebuttons to move forward + Q
-When I hold W and click on Q with my mouse
It doesn’t work even when I changed Q/Travel Form to another keybind.
It seems to be a problem while holding W.
I’ve checked all keybinds and nothing has changed or has been paired with W.
Resetting the keybinds or disabling add-ons and deleting the cache files didn’t work to fix it.
That’s a weird one. I did a quick test with a few characters myself including a Druid setting Travelform to Q, and I had no issues swapping back and forth to Travel Form while holding down W. You may have another program that uses this keybind combination or the combo with “W” since a recent update or (re)install of it, which is overwriting your in-game WoW keypresses with this combo.
Usual suspects would be keyboard/mouse software if you use a brand that comes with a software suite, or some overlay programs like the ones we call out here.
I’d recommend you have a look at the likely suspects based on your setup and my descriptions and see if you can find the culprit .
Actually it sounds like a cheap keyboard that doesn’t support multi-key rollover.
To clarify, cheap keyboards save manufacture/design costs by having blocks of keys on the same matrix, the individual key being identified by the onboard ASIC, using bit shifting. However this means that if two keys attached to the same block are pressed at the same time, only one of them will be acknowledged.
More expensive keyboards do the same, but put commonly used keys on their own trace rather than in a block, enabling partial multi-key rollover.
Good gamers keyboards have each key on its own trace. Meaning you can press any combination of keys simultaenously, and all will register.
I should have mentioned that I didn’t add new software or hardware and it happened after the patch. Also I play on a fairly new laptop and did’nt install anything since the bug occured.
Online I found a few similair cases and no solutions. Maybe something went wrong with a specific stored macro.
In the end I uninstalled the game and copied the ‘wtf’ back into the wow folder. It worked as intended as before and no idea what really happened. But it’s fixed!
