Keybinding tips needed for normal mouse

So my razer Naga died yesterday .you know the mouse that has 12 buttons on thumb side .but for replacement I am going with normal mouse this time Logitech G502 X Gaming Mouse wired ..

I am looking for some tips as to how to do keybinds for my spells and other things on my keyboard .like which keys are easy to access and where to put the spells on

I play healer and DPS role.

Not sure why you posted this in the Customer Support forum, General discussion forum or similar would be more fitting.

For myself I use keys around WASD which I use for moving so it might vary if you use ESDF for example:

Q, E, R, T, G, B, V, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and variations with SHIFT, ALT, CTRL. For most used abilities I use Q, E, R, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, sometimes with shift as I find shift to be easiest modifier to use for myself. I also try to bind similar abilities to same keys for each class and spec. For example I use 5 for speed buffs which do not require targeting (eg. Sprint, Burning Rush, Death’s Advance, paladin charger etc).

I don’t use macros for conditionals (shift, alt, ctrl etc) casting as I find it easiest to just assign actions to different bars with different hotkeys.

Best to just experiment it yourself which buttons are easiest to use for you while moving and don’t forget your mouse has multiple buttons, too, just less than “MMO”-mouses.

Thx for good explanation

I think it was not mentioned here, but you can also use the mouse-wheel for specific spells as well, as it is quite a convenient one to use.

Usually zoom isn’t needed to be changed that often, so you can move it on to a button combination still reasonable to remember.

Similar! QERTFGVB123456 as my basics, with shift and ctrl variants. All of these land entirely under my left hand.

I like E, R, F, V, T for buttons I will be pressing a lot. I tend to reserve G for interrupt and B for movement ability.

Q is hard to press while moving (WASD) so oftentimes that gets bound to things with a cast time that I would have to be stationary for anyway. Any spec that has a dispel, that dispel is on 1; easy to reach, always.

If you don’t have muscle memory yet, don’t worry too much about what is where - although I do recommend standardising the placement of defensives, movement speed, etc.

On the whole, don’t be afraid to try out different layouts and see what will work. The only real golden rule is:

Frequently pressed abilities should be easier to press than infrequent abilities.

(Do not be like me and have dispel as ctrl-r until you get RSI.)

1-5, Q E R T Z F G.

Those are all easy to reach with your fingers, using Shift as a modifier.

Scroll up + Scroll down - you can also do Shift, Ctrl and ‘ combinations for them. Same with MB4 and MB5. So 16 keybinds alone with this. I also use 1-4, Q, E, R, T and C.
