Abilities that have shorter CDs bind close to your movement keys, and abilities that have longer CDs, mod and or bind them further away.
You train by playing the game.
Actually good for you! keep trying to improve and get used.
I think that keybind guides/videos are pretty easy to find on youtube/google, haven’t searched for one for a while.
More relevant advice is to practice and take it slow. Resto shammy is notorious for having a large number of spells, so using keybinds and especially macro to reduce that number is pretty important.
If you feel totally lost and do not really know how to continue feel free to message me in game for help (or send in game mail).
I have mmo mouse, without it I would not be able to play(since I started later in life xd). Main abilities on it + keys like Q+E+F+R and for healing - 1234
And I use mouse with combos ctrl+ number and alt+number.
very nice and easy
I second MMO mouse. I went straight from clicking to MMO mouse and it’s easier than clicking and much more efficient.
MMO mouse here as well. I tend to group different types of abilities on different rows, as it makes it easier to play multiple alts of different classes. General template looks something like this:
QUERTY - six core attacks, single target first then cleave and aoe
123456 - damage multipliers always go here, as well as shields and stun / slow
ASDFGH - Heals, interrupts, snare removal, taunt, race ability and maybe one or two attacks
Mouse buttons - dash, execute-type attacks, damage reduction and immunity, stealth, invisibility
Mouse for movement, tab for targeting, middle mouse wheel lean left or right to strafe.
For healing itself I can recommend vuhdo, for me healing with the mouse feels very fluid. Helps quite a bit with keybinding the rest, less overwhelming
First, return default settings.
Keybindings are player-specific preferences. There aren’t any good or better keybinds for “you”.
However, the general concept of keybinding is to use your forefinger and middle finger efficiently on all possible keyboard buttons while using your thumb to always hit to space bar and your little finger moves between Shift and Ctrl.
The keys (including shift+s and Ctrl+s) you want to use on your keyboard always go like
" or Ă© , 1, 2, 3, 4, 5*, 6*
Q, E, R, T*
A, D, F, G*
Z, X, C, V*
*Using those is not easy at first but usable later.
Always keybind the most frequently used spell to 1, 2, 3 and 4, because horizontal finger movements are much easier than vertical movements. (The same also applies to the clickable party/raid frame healing addons likewise VuhDo)
Always keybind similar spells on the same button, this will help a lot when you change class/spec. (For example, always use E or R for AoE damage, once you have finger muscle memory, you won’t have a hard time finding your AoE damage or healing spell)
Keybind the buttons I mentioned above in a position that you can easily see on your screen. Do NOT change your keybinds, chance your spell locations if it is not fitting.
Go to the target dummy and commence keybinding by starting your class/spec main/basic spell rotation by checking the damage meter. Then slowly add other spells how it feels you correct. Once you have done so, keep practising on the target dummy. It is important to “you” to understand** “your” keybinds.
After getting used to it a bit, go to the open world, find a trash pack you think you will be comfortable and practice your keybinds. Don’t go fast, spend some time in your comfort zone. Slowly increase the difficulty, world bosses, normal dungeons, heroic dungeons, LF raid et cetera. At any point, if you feel uncomfortable, go back to your comfort zone including the target dummy.
Stop trying to click on your spells. It is a reflex. You think it is easier but it is not.
You can look at your keyboard for some time on the first days but do NOT make it a habit.
After some time your fingers will gain “the muscle memory”. What you understand** will become your reflex.
It takes some time to gain that muscle memory, depending on how often and how long you practice it.
Once you have that muscle memory and your fingers move to the correct keys in an emergency, congratulations, you have done it.
more eficent and clicking is really bad and huge dps/heling loss
