Khadgar in a wheelchair

When he quit Blizzard he said he was tired of working on someone else’s fantasy universe, and then he immediately started drawing old-school Warcraft inspired art on his Twitter account all day long, and he’s still going.

Now, people are saying there’s no drama there, but the thing is… he’s the art director. Blizzard stuff should be his stuff. Someone’s been badgering him pretty badly and he doesn’t want to speak ill of them, which I greatly admire.

I hope he’ll come back one day.

In the meantime he’s giving us this:

Warcrafts cast of characters, especially the second one, grew out of Blizzard’s DnD sessions. Consequently, when he draws a Lost Dwarf or Ironforge dwarf on a dragon and references DnD, he’s just as much referencing characters like Magni Bronzebeard.

Also, if someone calls me not an old school Warcraft fan for playing panda…

They’re his pet project.

Maybe yh khadgar himself could in theory have enchanted it himself.

Hes certainly powerful enough to do so.

The issue with blizz stuff being his stuff is its simply doesnt work that way.

Itd have been in his contract that anything he made or was involved was then property of blizz.

Its not fair and its not right but thats how they do this stuff.

Intellectual properties and so on.
What can be said is he can look back and say "i did that "

Nobody can ever take that away.

What’s wrong with Faerin?

Theoretically possible, but , I´d say that´s unlikely. As the whole reason Modera made it for him (barring any bow chicka bow wow naughty side motivations) is that he´s currently to weak to walk around, much less do any significant spellcasting.

But, just as a side note, something that still bothers me abotuthe whole return…

Khadgar, and before him Medivh, were able to transform into ravens because they wielded Ateish, Greatstaff of the Guardian.

Ateish was however broken /destroyed before Dalaran imploded /was ported away, and Khadgar was still in his human form when everything went “kablooie!”.

And yet he emerged from the Dark Heart as a raven…

Somebody has some explaining to do, Mr. Metzen… Or I missed it and any insight from someone that didn´t would be greatly appreciated :beers:

I wondered that as well, think it might just be a plot hole sadly.

I fear that will likely be the case. That somebody thought “Khadgar can turn into a raven”, and it wasnt caught by the Continuity team after they got slashed by the bean counters that didn´t understand why they were important, leaving us with a new “red shirt guy” scenario for next years Blizzcon :stuck_out_tongue:

Almost makes me want to sign up to be a twit /X-man just to troll Metzen with it…

Sadly, in all forms of media, fans are generally better at lore than the creators.

You think he did it to own his IP?

:joy:

The point is - as the creative director he sets the tone and art style of the game. He has that right, assuming it’s popular, which it is. His art style hasn’t changed, but Warcraft definitely has. I think he resents that, but he’s too nice to say it.

I know he’s just gotten involved with overhauling the visual art direction of Stormgate. I think that game still has a chance.

Yes they put Khadgar in a wheelchair for good boy points, same for Faerin being an amputee with the most stupid shield ever or the Centaur Chieftain in DF being mute.
Even if the current writers think they are so cool and progressive in the end Blizzard doesn’t care, it’s just for money so stop pretending that they did it for “social activism”.
Even D&D had the infamous combat wheelchair which was mocked by everyone, even by crippled people.
But back on topic: Lore wise we had a lot of people getting squished, mauled, crippled and such but then also healed completely, and yes even by powerful entities. BFA had a whole questline where you had to heal Rastakhan which in the end accepted Bwomsandi pact but he was up and ready to fight. The player also gets messed up badly a lot of time and you have all sort of powerful healers here and there so you are saying that if the Guardian of Azeroth gets crippled nobody steps in to fix his spine? come on.

Could be that the staff was bound to him on a magic lvl when it got destroyed perhaps hes now imbued wity its raven form permanently which is very cool bc khadgar is a beloved chara in wow.

Also, I just realized that Medivh (or his ghost, whatever…), who no longer wields it himself, can still transform into a raven as well…

So there´s probably a lore reason that we simply aren´t aware of /hasn´t been explicitly ementioned yet…

The ghost thing could be bc its a magical echo or that was given the ability after death bc he was spirituslly linked to the staff similar fashion to a totem if you will.

Or it could be how his ghost manifests a speed movement.

As for khadgar he could have had the transformation locked on to him bc he was holding the staff when it was destroyed that or bc it was linked to him when it was broken.

Makes you wonder why this never happened with the fire cat staff off majordomo in fl raid. Meaning that you keep firecat if you dontbhave it equipped at all.

Using a shield despite lacking an arm and refusing to make use of a prosthetic hand whilst going on a self righteous lecture towards someone trying to help her out. It makes her a selfish liability on the battlefield and I am tired of such characters being glorified and given a free pass when realistically they’d mess up frequently and get people killed.

Khadgar became a worse rip off of Professor X :upside_down_face: Blizzard are out of ideas from a long time

Unless it was a mechanical arm attached to her nerves and what have you, it would be just extra dead weight.

Black women with a disability who isnt weak. They dont like that

it’s the woke mindvirus, simple as that. No one in the real world cares about all that because people generally aren’t as sexist, racist and bad as people think they are. It’s just a bunch of weirdos trying to put their politics into the game. Stop it.

Edit: Regarding the comment above me: That women, whatever her name is, is actually quit nice. Her quest with the balcksmith where they go on about “oh I don’t need a artifical arm” is cringe af. The fact that she doesn’t want one in itself is dope but it’s just told so god damn bad. Same wiht the therapy quests in spiderland. Imagine we saw how her arm got ripped from her body, dope
