Kick from dungeons, why there exist "deserter"

Man u crazy? Your logic - punishment 1 -going to jail - punishment 2 - you’re there for 3 years…

Except if you remove the Punishment 2 you can suddenly use the Punishment 1 as a benefit. With how many people leaves undesirable RDF dungeons despite deserter how many you think would hold the group hostage so they kick them without any consequences for the kicked one?

You literally said nothing useful to combat the fact of abusing the kick for nothing, ive even had people try to kick people in my groups because they weren’t getting bonus xp or something because he was too high level. you shouldn’t be able to vote to kick someone who is not doing nothing wrong, or just because they dont have as much experience as you.

To get more players stick at a game you need to make sure that experienced players help new players out rather than the majority of people they dont have time for them and just use the kick penalty. Thus results in the new player probably quit the game because they aint good enough, or at least dungeons. it shouldn’t feel like that.

This translates to a lot of games believe it or not, focusing on the players they have rather than getting new players to join causes a plague of problems.

Just play better so you don’t get kicked? Why do you need to drink for mana in a heroic dungeon?

The “just play better” argument isn’t a good one. The vote kick with 30 min deserter buff is an arguably flawed system, that can be used to abuse people in several ways.

On multiple occasions, I’ve healed (and I would say I don’t have a skill issue, killing the HC content in raids multiple times a week) with a tank that just rushes in and pulls multiple groups at the same time thinking “it’ll be faster”. When the grp can’t handle it and there is a wipe, I sometimes just get a kick with no warning for “being the healer who couldn’t heal up the party” because the tank clicked the vote kick button, and the dps blindly followed thinking “he’s a tank, he surely knows what he is talking about”.

Now how is that fair for anyone? A random guy can just decide that you should be out of the instance, and besides getting kicked out, you get punished for 30 minutes. It’s quite staggering that the system was even implemented by Blizzard in this way.

Tossing some automated message “Hello this system was needed because of people abusing it.” Doesn’t really open up to any discussion or anything.
And im not talking about just this OPs post, if a post includes “dungeon” & “votekick” you post the exact same ones over and over.

I’ve noticed this too, and agree that it’s not conducive to the discussion. That being said, it’s understandable when numerous people complain about the same thing.

Then again: if this many complain about a system that’s easy to abuse in a way that encourages hostile behavior, you have to consider which of the following is the lesser of two evils:

  1. Keeping the Deserter debuff because of players who want to leave a group become a nuisance or ask the group to remove them.

or

  1. removing the Deserter debuff to mitigate purposefully hostile abuse of the system

Keep in mind, the LFG functionality renders the first bullet point obsolete, because players are automatically added to the group once a replacement has been found. This seems to be a pre-LFG solution to a problem that just doesn’t exist anymore.

Latching onto what Saneko mentioned in my previous post:

Groups are empowered to manage their own members through the vote-kick system. If the majority of the group feels a player should be removed, they can initiate a vote-kick to remove them. The system is entirely under the control of our players. Players may choose to remove any other player from the group for any reason, provided the vote to kick passes.

If the group majority is alright with a player being kicked to circumvent the Deserter debuff and Blizzard empowers groups to manage themselves, why punish players who are kicked at all?

Not to mention that this debuff by definition is completely irrelevant when a player is unwillingly kicked from the group.

Don’t judge me if I do not wanna continue this discussion.
I see people tossing insults all over the place & the moment I call someones comment pointless it gets apparently “massreported.”

I find Forums to be for open discussion, automated messages can be left to their ticket system.

I would say it’s not about your opinion that someone’s comment is pointless. It’s about attitude.

Totally agree , Joined a dungeon yesterday around 20:00 and about 1½ min into the dungeon i got removed , i did nothing wrong no ninja pulling not even talking in group just removed and get 30min debuff … hardly worth playing outside guild groups these days !

All i see from blizz / community so called managers is blame shifting and not even an attempt in solving the Toxic use of the Vote kick ! … fyi it was 3 x mirage raceway players and 1 gehennas in the group alongside me.

It is funny how in guild before this LFG was put in place said “oh i can see how this turns into what it was like in Original, where you get kicked for not having the “right” transmog gear”

mean got kick 1 play like crap fine by me i deserv kick i more burden group then help kick some 1 not doing anyting not wort keeping dead weight slow group down too much

fine and fine kids kick if damage to low etc all think damage none follow mecanic al lthink is nuke boss in hc hahahahahahahaha

i was top dmg and regardless of being top or bottom that does NOT validate a kick , first reason that the deserter buff should be reworked

Did a run yday on my DK lvling up and the group kicked 2 dps for doing “low” dps 6k and 7k at lvl 82 and 83 ! …
