When the tank run like hell…
The mark is pretty annoying on top of your head. If I keep removing it and you keep reapplying it then that can seem like griefing.
For what its worth you shouldn’t need to mark the tank. What difference does it make where exactly he is? You can see the pile of mobs, he is in the center of that pile. As long as you are in range of the pile you are in range of the tank. No markers needed.
I always mark my tank in m+, just makes it easier for me to spot where they are in between all the other stuff, easier for me to spot if they suddenly run around a corner or down/up stairs and so on I cant see any problems with that.
Edit: i never pug though and always tell my tanks why i put a mark on them.
who cares ?

when a healer put a marker on me i understand that might help him in healing me even tho it dose bother me, but i don’t kick him for that
These threads are as useful as people who upload dashcam videos of angry drivers on the internet.
We never get the full story only what was done wrong by the other dude(s).
We simply cant tell if it was a kick just for the marker or because they wanted a friend in or whatever.
I dont know anymore because i stopped pugging since the start of s3, but i ALWAYS put a mark on the tank (usually green triangle). And very very often the tank is doing it himself already at the start of the dungeon. It is a big advantage to know where the tank is (and who the tank is, as s pulls the next pack because the front player is apparently the rogue in stealth ).
Why are you @ing me son?
I too dislike markers on me.
Never put them on tank as a healer, because i assume my way is the best way and everyone hates markers on them.
I kinda “never” loose sight of the tank…as for him running ahead…idk…i always try to be ahead of the grp anyway, so i can dash/bubble sprint a bit farther after a mob grp dies, so i can drink while they run to the next grp.
Not everyone is a druid healer. My pala can not dash and it is very usefull to know who the tank is between all these elves. Especially on weeks with necrotic you want to know who it is so you can stay close (oh righ, i get bonus by mastery the closer i am to the tank, and my frontal cone heal i also want to point to the tank…)
I tank a lot and if i pug, people put a marker over my head.
If someone needs the visual aid, i am fine with that.
Some people responding here make it sound a marker will ruin their ability to play or see whats going on.
Just dont play in 1st person and you are fine.
Oh come on you don’t need a marker for that. Just point the cone in the direction in which most fuss is happening.
The idea of kiting means the tank is NOT at the spot where the fuss is happening. But it was just an example. There are a lot of advantages to have the marker. You dont need it, good for you.
Idk…i guess. Ive never really thought about it in this way, because the tank is usually at the start of the line of mobs that are chasing and i work with that.
We are all different. U dont need marker and thats great. I dont NEED need it either, it just helps me a bit to easier spot the tank and where to place my totems and also easier see if my tank is running away around a corner, like tol dagor or waycrest is good examples here.
I’m always far behind since i try to stay away from melee range (its crowded enough in there and no reason for me to be there). If tank tells me they dont want a marker i’ll ofcourse respect that.
U were not kicked for placing mark at tank.U were kicked probably for low perfomance.Maybe u made a mistake that pissed off some1 so much that decided to vote kick u and the rest just agree. Its tw after all ,some1 else will join.Another scenario is that were prem and spreading dungeon deserter to pugs cause they think is fun…#sadface. The worst scenario is they just didnt like u without knowing u lol.
Give power to someone and u will know his true face.
Maybe, just maybe my Eng is really weak so i cant recognize if your response is serious or just bait, but i have to ask…arent you the guy who made a topic not long time ago about how toxic and ridiculous is when you get kicked for demanding an answer for “hi” ?
How you are so polite and nice and abusing vote for kick should result in a perma ban + blizz should delete your acc alltogether?
Yet here you are, kicking people for puting marker above your character.
You should get your thougths straigt our little hypocrite.
And again if that was just sarcastic bait, then jokes on me.
Please dont put a Marker above my head its annoying
- does it anyway*

You ask them nicely( first two three times then you get angry) to please not put a marker there, they do it anyway.
How is that Hypocracy? I am the tank, i do NOT want a marker above my head, if i the three meter tall blue giant dranaei are too hard to see you need your eyes checked, but seriously there are addons, You have a group overvieuw on the left side of your screen, you dont need a marker above your head.
I said no, it is really annoying and its distracting me from my job of not getting my entire group killed, They do it anyway so you remove them from the group. You do it in a nice way tough,
Also, i have to add, not only did i NOT abuse the Vote Kick system, the entire group agreed with me everyone voted yes and everyone chose to remove the person from the group,
Some people use markers, to see the tank.
Which leaves you with 2 options:
- dont pug a healer and find yourself a healer who doesnt need a marker and bring him everytime
- dont play in 1st person (change your camera distance) i play with maxed out camera and that is so i can see what happens around me, and then markers arent so obtrusive as you claim.
And being the tank doesnt grant you the magic key to demand or not demand certain playstyles just because you play a tank (also applies to healers in some sorts)
Your behaviour is toxic and just sad and ruins the game in my eyes.
If you get distracted by a static marker over your head, tanking might not be for you.
And the group agreeing isnt telling us anything, maybe he was also underperforming of maybe just maybe they agreed with you because they were scared you would leave or they would have to requeue again as dps which would result in lost time.
I am a guilty marker healer here also… I always choose star though so you can look your best while tanking
So Hold on, If i dont like something and i dont want someone to do something i dont like and i remove them for doing it anyway after asking them politely not to do it. I am the bad guy because i am forcing my playstyle on them
But if someone else forces their play style on me wich annoys the living excrement out of me, thats fine.
So basicly because someone else was being Toxic, and annoying me, i should have left and suffered the deserter debuff, even tough they are the person annoying me?
