Tbh they don’t have to remove the deserter. What needs to be done are; A single player can’t kick you in expeditions… Yes it’s not a two vs one vote in Islands, it’s a simple “I kick you now” button. If it required two players voting they blatant “I don’t like you” kicking whould be reduced by half already.
Another thing which could be needed are that everyone who get’s asked to vote have to type into the window not just click a button. So the vote kick pops up and clearly ask “Do you want to kick X?” then you have to type “yes or no”(English client, however it whould accept any clients language for a yes and no) waiting untill it expires whould count as a No.
This whould reduce the negligent “Ugh stupid box” clickers, that just click because it pops up… also if you have any Lua error cloaking add on you won’t even get a box with a question, it’s just empty.
The final solution whould be that after a vote kick are succesfull the kicked player whould get a report window. With the stated reason and who voted yes. That way a player have a chance to report or ignore them if it’s just plain harrasment.

Solution:
Remove “leader” from island expedition.
Remove vote to kick in island expedition / autokick after 20 seconds of standing still with no button pressed instead.
Even if someone joined IE to stand still on the ship and just move to not being flagged as AFK he would need to move every 20 seconds, he couldn’t really AFK so i think he would play normal.

I’ve just experienced this. Randomly kicked for no reason and get a 30 minute deserter debuff. Honestly this is horse crap! How is this not changed? If some random idiot wants to initiate a kick for no reason, whatever. But to get locked out for 30 minutes for doing nothing wrong is beyond bad design.
Sort this out Blizzard.

just remove the deserter penalty from expedition, they’re not that interesting. A decent geared toon can practically solo a HC. It’s already a punishment for having to do braindead grind in an expedition to push HoA
I had this happen once, had limited time to play and yea makes you want to punch the moron that coded it. At the very least if its abused, they should give the a s s hats abusing it a 5 day debuf and roll back any gains they made.

Agree with you, deserted buff for anyone kicked from something should not come with a deserter tag preventing them from continuing.
I’ve just got kicked twice because I was not following the two buddies that died all the time and I was farming mobs + azerite myself. Completely ridiculous that there is no second criteria like activity that determines if you can be kicked or not. This must be changed ASAP. As well as the stupid deserter the bug, which bright mind thought of that -.-
I mean I have to admit, if your not following your team around on an Island your affecting the team negatively. 2 x players fighting mobs that are killing them might not be the case if there was all three of you there.
I get annoyed when the team doesn’t stick together on an Island because its honestly much smoother when you do.
Also, its not a bug, its an intended mechanic to get the deserters buff when kicked or removed, its always been like that.

To put it frankly, yes i do sorry. I get it, you don’t wanna die, but you will kill lots more of those big pulls and even with the wipes get through the island faster by sticking together.
Best way to avoid overpulling is to take charge. If you see people mount up and start multi pull just start killing the first pack and later on go help them out. Or by all means just say, “wth just stop”.

Just got kicked for no reason with my dk and more importantly without warning. And the worst part is that I earned points faster than the other two players together. And I didn’t catch their names so I can tell them a few things about their sweet mothers… It drives me crazy because I never do anything to provoke anyone in this game.Ffs…
I was recently kicked from a dungeon at lvl 30 for playing dps in prot paladin spec. I was second on the dps meter but they called me retarded for playing prot dps at low lvl and kicked for for it. I ended up having a deserter debuf from this. I have limited time in my private life so having 30min taken simply due to people kicking me over such a simple thing is honestly a bummer.
