same thing happened while i use to play on pvp server and I didnt whine really much when I get ganked. instead I asked for what is suitable pve server for me to move to then I didnt get much bad reputation because of that.
If someone /spit on you in PvP, it usually means they have been outplayed or you’ve done something that upset them.
Take it as a compliment. I do.
I find /spit emote a bit more offensive than it is comfortable as well. Not such a big deal ofc, but I did have a similar thought as the OP.
I don’t think I have ever been offended much whilst playing this game the last 12 years. However, back in my TBC days I was collecting Warbeads in Nagrand for the mount and getting up stupidly early and staying up real late to avoid the crowds… and I had just killed this Ogre and this guy ran up to me and spit at me. It actually upset me. He said nothing. Hadn’t been in the area. Just arrived and did that. I reflected at the time that this was a real dreadful thing to have in the game. It wasn’t about a character v character issue, this was an act of a player venting their feelings in a disgusting way. Hasn’t ever happened since, thank goodness. I mean how do you respond to that? Maybe a good kick in the whatsits.
Maybe borrow a trick from another game. When you spit on someone you are flagged PvP and leave red footprints on the ground where ever you go for 30 minutes. Dunno.

or just get over it and carry on with your farm like a normal person…
maybe he spat on you because you’d been in that spot hogging the stuff he needed for days on end, however that is obviously a him-problem and most normal people just see it as fair competition for mob/node tags.
