Kill Zone / Ranger’s Finess / Volley / Explosive Shot + Precision Detonation - Suggestion

I feel like Kill Zone need some love!

It’s the end choice in that branch and volley is just too small of a radius and it’s way to easy to step out of it and now they are not in line of sight anymore.

A suggestion would be that Kill Zone get’s the same radius and some of the properties as “Resonating Arrow” had in Shadowlands.

I propose the following changes to Volley with Kill Zone talent, or if that’s too good in PvE then change the dead Marksman PvP Talent “Ranger’s Finess” to give these benefits.

  • Incrase Volley duration from 6 seconds to 10 seconds. (not increasing the damage of Volley)
  • Increase Volley radius from 8 yards to 15 yards.
  • Leaving the area of Volley will still allow the hunter to ignore line of sight towards the enemy for 4 sec.

I also suggest to take Volley off GCD. It currently has 6 second uptime, and GCD is 1,5 seconds for hunters. Your possible window of using Trickshots is 4.5 seconds, if you cast Aimed Shot (with x2 streamline) you have about 1.2-1.4 second cast time. Now that’s almost 3 seconds out of 6 with ZERO cleave value. This also counts with Kill Zone talent, and with Kill Zone, unless you root or stun they can just step out of it before you can actually do damage due to the GCD. Sure you can have more uptime and get more value from Volley if you can cast rapid fire or lock n load procc for aimed shot. Either way I find that Volley being on GCD is canabilizing on the value of talents and cleave mechanics.

As it is now, if I want to use Volley to target an enemy that is line of sight behind a pillar. I only really get at best 50% value from the Volley, as I can’t activate it in LOS, I need to put it on the edge of the pillar that’s line of site. This effectively gives me at best a radius of 3 yards that ignores LOS. This is very little and given that an enemy can take 1 step and get out of it, worthless in PvP.

Now that this is tied to Double Tap, which is a mush take for Arena and PvP - so does Volley become mandatory to get the most out of Double Tap.

Explosive Shot + Precision Detonation suggestion

I have the same reasoning with Explosive Shot on GCD with Precision Detonation talent. Aimed Shot with 2x Streamline buffs is about 1.2-1.4 seconds cast time. With Explosive Shot being on GCD at 1.5 seconds, and have 3 seconds before it explodes. Leaves little to no room to benefit from the Precision Detonation talent. One way to fix this would be to make Precision Detonation also remove Explosive Shot from GCD. Because if you don’t have 2x Streamline stacks, there’s no way you’ll be able to get an Aimed Shot of before Explosive Shot detonates. This talent should work independantly of Streamline or not. Without GCD, you would still be able to get an aimed shot off before detonation. With Explosive Shot having a GCD, it makes the rotation feel really sluggish and clunky. I often find myself not even pressing Explosive Shot because just doing another Aimed Shot, Black Arrow/Arcane Shot or Rapid Fire all provide more value (damage) for that GCD.
