It’s probably the robe vs the normal chestpieces, i have them both now.
But a guildie just told me he had the shoulder pieces twice in the same day… how’s that for crap rng?
Hmmm, should probably work like with two chars: turn in one quest, abandon the other and the reward will change.
(So far in my experience the rly bad thing about the RNG is getting mog rewards in the first place only - not which pieces, but maybe I’m just lucky there at least…)

It does. I did exactly that on two characters and was 4 pieces in within a single day.
I have heard you need to abandon the quest, leave the zone and come back later if that happens.
