Korthia is the most frustrating area I have experienced in this game

And for someone that also played during Argus, or AKA “you are in combat 24/7”, this says a lot.

It’s downright incredible that we waited so long for new content and all we got was… this.

It’s one area of this game that absolutely makes me hate the fact that I play a MMO that has other people in it.

And I’m sure other people can agree with the glaring issues that somehow slipped trough QA or beta-testing:

  • Lootables can’t be looted in combat… because why would they be
  • Stuff that keeps you in combat… forever.
  • Lootables that disappear very quickly once someone else loots them
  • Today’s quest that requires you to loot 7 things that disappear right after someone clicks them, and they’re all concentrated in a tiny area… and they have a low spawn rate. Yes, I’m aware you can group up to finish it faster. That doesn’t excuse the poor design.

What happens is often you will have to reach some weird path for a nest or some mawshrooms, but while rushing to get the item, you pull mobs, which you’ll have to kill to be able to loot something.

But that’s not the big issue. The big issue is that while you’re just killing stuff, someone else (hello Demon Hunters) can just swoop right in and loot the stuff under your nose, and by the time you finish combat, the thing is gone.

It’s like everyone forgot that there are classes in this game that lack any way of avoiding combat or that have absolutely no movement abilities.

Do I have to mention the poorly designed terrain that is meant to be a chore to navigate?

What about the incredibly low spawn rate for “rares”?

Yeah I had that same quest today I found 1 in 15 mins play time I quit the quest in the end seemed pointless.

You haven’t experienced pre flying Nazjatar or the maw in general then

same, about seeing everyone in this tiny area dart towards the single one that spawns after it’s cleared out in what seems like a long time, I even saw groups form and these groups competing too… it was ridiculous. I left and abandoned the quest.

The logic behind this design which is also applied to chests and being locked in combat whilst you work to get out only to have another player come by and swipe it…

On top of that, the collisions in this game engine is atrocious, the amount of times my character got stuck behind objects, between slopes etc etc was absolutely frustrating.

I didn’t do it when i saw people there standing and doing it like a mad sheeps
maybe after those people will beta test the area and blizzard will fix it in 1-2 weeks from now it will be easier to play it who knows

maybe it was designed like this ? people keep crying there are no social in WOW and everything can be done alone , so they made this quest to force ppl to group up ?

hm i did and i can tell you that nazjatar was by miles better to do or at least i didn’t feel like i want to die

Nah it’s a very obvious oversight that’ll be fixed in a few days.

Not even Blizzard would make quests this bad, intentionally.

Nazjatar was a good zone even without flying, I had no issues with the maw either. This place, the rares, not-in-combat-disappearing-10seconds-chests it sucks. It’s terrible. It’s designed to delay and frustrate. However instead of increasing mau’s people are just saying ‘nope’ and doing other things. The tipping point has come.

They had a chance to make good zone for this expac and instead chose insane time gating measures that pretty much annoy most people.

We have. While Nazjatar was also more than just a pain to navigate it doesnt exactly make Korthia that much better in that regard. The maw wasnt an issue given their rares (or most of them) respawned pretty much instantly and werent an issue given the Eye would yeet you out very quickly after a couple dailies and killing the rares that respawn really fast.

If thats true then they should have hotfixed it hours ago already. Also the placement right infront of the consumption rare is just a joke and fuel for anger given the amount of people insta pulling the rare before it even becomes a rare (or even a rare elite given it can transform twice for more loot) is too damn high and reading is apparently a very rare trait nowadays followed usually by a “i dont care xxx” because people are obviously annoyed at such people.

Agreed, but it’s Blizzard we’re talking about :man_shrugging:

Yeah, I was wondering why people even attack him before he shows up on the minimap. Before that it’s just a named NPC with no reason to murder. Poor fella

Korthia is heaven for a Night Elf. Elune has no need for direct revenge if all her children can just Shadowmeld off aggro and loot the chest in front of a Hordie. You burn our tree? We steal your strange nests and funky shrooms. Mwuahaha.

(In all seriousness, there is a lot of poor design on Korthia, what keeps me going is the transmogs and the mounts. As usual the graphics team does not disappoint.)

They have done so in the past tho.

“OH ITS MARKED ON MY ADDON AS A RARE SO I MUST KILL IT NOW!!11!!1!”

As in made quests intentionally bad

Had an oversight and fixed it a few days later and subsequently a few days too late

or

Made a quest intentionally bad and then fixed it a few days later?

Because to be honest, I’m pretty sure, if I tried, I could list cases for all three of those.

QA didn’t do a thorough job regardless and now that feedback is streaming in, they’ll change it. Whether it was a mess up or intentional doesn’t really matter, tbh.

Im talking about stuff going live. Underestimating the amount of people being present or having an oversight (a reason why they nowadays up the respawn rates of mobs to the max on xpac launches ever since the cataclysm disaster in hyjal) and then hotfixing it a couple hours later.

Probably going to excuse this with “it was friday so people were already calling in for the weekend” or something. An argument that doesnt fly for a company of this size anyway.

I’d be surprised if there was an excuse for not changing it earlier to begin with
