Kul Tiran - Missing Warrior Melee Ability Sounds

Just bumping up the post, as I don’t even want to play warrior because of that now…
Btw, have you tried replacing the sounds by some custom sound addon? Could be a workaround for now. I haven’t gotten to it yet (will try when I have time to play again), as I was trying other things such as reinstalling, even tried deleting and restoring the character… only to find out that restoration is disabled, lol, so now I’m waiting for it to come back.

The sound effect addon is actually a good idea but havent found any… I was really naive to think Blizzard would fix their game on launch since the issue is here for the whole prepatch.

There is no way they still didn’t do anything about it,it’s retail… Feels like im playing on a bad private server duh maybe even on a private server they would fix it faster…

Sucks to play like this,and i don’t want to change race,that’s not a solution…

WHY are they ignoring it i wrote to support 3 times and nothing, this is a pretty game breaking bug… for kul tirans

I don’t even play Kul tiran but the amount of problems they had since their launch and how they are overlooked ouf of all the races for so long is crazy… I’ve seen lot of people saying they would love to play Kul tirans but they just could not get over the broken animations and gave up… its just sad.

I am glad this has been nicely converted into a single thread by moderator here. But when are we gonna get some official response? Is there some estimate to when the issue is going to be fixed?

So I tried messing around with some custom sound addon and I managed to get it partially working. The addon is Sweetsour’s Custom Audio on curseforge.

I got to put in some sounds which come built in the addon (so now the Lich King yells “APOCALYPSE” when I cast Colossus Smash), but I have not been able to put in custom sounds yet, even after following a step by step guide.

I will keep trying and hopefully I will figure it out, but if anyone wants to give it a go, here are the two videos I was using for reference.

YouTube:

World of Warcraft - How to Get CUSTOM SOUND Effects for CLASS ABILITIES

Sweetsour’s Custom Audio - Creating a Custom Audio Pack

(can’t post links, so at least the names of the videos)

Hope this helps for the time being.

EDIT:
I managed to get it working. Compared to what you see in the first, longer video, I had the files in the audio pack as mp3 files, not .ogg files, and I named them just by numbers from 1 to 5. I used the sounds downloaded directly from wowhead.
The problem however is, that the soundfile plays the moment you cast the spell, not when it actually hits. So in order for that to work, you will have to extend the soundfiles by adding roughly a 0.5 seconds of silence, for the intended sound to actually play the moment it is supposed to. So I guess by using a sound editing software, such as the one they mention in the video.

It is stupid that we have to deal with this and that we have to find a workaround using addons, but at least there is a way for us to do it ourselves. Ngl, I am really not looking forward to editing all the soundfiles for all the spells in order to actually enjoy playing the game.

Hmmm thats really cool! However, what bothers me even more than the sound effects is that the damage numbers when you attack are super delayed so it still gonna feel ultra laggy anyway :frowning: when you do Rampage all the three parts of the damage markers and numbers appear after the animation end and its sooo not fun.

Ah, I play Arms primarily, so I never noticed anything like it. Other multiple damage source abilities such as ravager seem to be working fine, but I did notice some glitchy animations in skullsplitter. Of course, best would be for Blizzard to fix it, but at least there is something else we can do in the meantime to fix it. I’m messing around with the sound files and should have them ready by tomorrow, so I guess I’ll drop them on reddit or something, in case someone else wants to do what I did.

EDIT: After writing this I went in and did a couple of rotations, you were right, the numbers are all over the place  but tbh I don’t mind that as much as the sounds, so I’m happy I managed to find a solution. Now to just wait for character restore to come back on, as I deleted my main warrior in hopes deleting and restoring would solve the problem, only to find out it’s disabled, not to mention it wouldn’t solve anything…

Ok, so I managed to get everything working, the workaround I used was using addons and these two videos as a walkthrough.

As mentioned before, I did everything step by step as it is in the videos, with the only exception being the names and the format of the files - I used mp3 files and named them just by numbers (thought I assume just leaving the names as the files would work as well).

To get the sounds I wanted, I downloaded them from wowhead and then used a sound editing software to change them to mp3s, as the ones I got from wowhead directly wouldn’t work.

In the end, I used all sounds just as they are, with the exception of Colossus Smash and Execute, as the hit sounds happen a bit later in the animation. To do that, I downloaded the swing sound and put them side by side to see how much delayed it needed to be.

Ultimately it wasn’t a difficult process. It took me a few hours to figure everything out, but once I got rolling, I had all the sounds done pretty quickly.

At the moment I have fixed the sound for Colossus Smash, Mortal Strike, Overpower, Execute, Skullsplitter + Slam + Victory Rush (seems like these three share the same hit sound, with the rest being done by effects that are not broken).

I created a reddit post where you can find the link to both of the videos and a link to download the AUDIO file needed to make the aforementioned spells work.

The post is:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/1f3ofsm/kul_tiran_warrior_missing_ability_sounds_how_to/

Again, I hope blizzard will fix this soon on their own, as it might happen that new patches will screw the addon up too, but it is a temporary fix at least for the sound.

Hope this helps.

Bumping this post so it does not get lost…

Is there going to be any response from Blizzard? Any estimate on the fix, please?

wow I cant believe this has been the problem all along, Ive been so frustrated with this trying to find help or a fix and no one seemed to have had it, I tried so many troubleshoots lol

spent so much time trying to google the issue because I was searching, “warrior delayed damage numbers” and nothing would lead me to this post.

No wonder, it’s so bizarre that it’s purely just a Kul Tiran issue! Glad you found this thread at the end and hope more people will too, but the lack of any response is not a very promising sign

Male Tauren warrior has same issue. New to WoW and honestly stunned a company of this size take so long to fix such a core bug.
