Kul'Tiran RP Question

Hello friends,

I’ve just been playing back through Warcraft 3 lately, including the bonus campaign, which for those not in the know, has Rexxar helping Thrall establish Orgrimmar post battle of Hyjal. This also involves Daelin Proudmoore sailing into and occupying Theramore and his eventual death at the hands of Rexxar.

Heck, that escalated quickly.

Anyway. As I was playing through it, I was beginning to wonder about how Kul’tiran role players dealt with this situation and the ‘Jaina’ situation. You might remember the Warbringer cinematic that had Jaina singing Daughter of the Sea, essentially a song about her father sailing across the sea to save her and her people, only for her to step aside and let some Orcs kill him.

Now, obviously we have the context for the song and story, but when we start the story of Kul’tiras in Battle for Azeroth, we see that many, possibly most, Kul’tiran’s seem to think rather poorly of Jaina.

Now what I was wondering, was how your Kul’tiran character, if you have one, might have viewed the situation of Jaina’s return home in BFA?

Did they blame her? Try to rationalize what might have happened?

And equally importantly, how did your character view the situation when she became Grand Admiral?

Did they put the old hatred aside? Do they still harbour (if you’ll question the pun) doubts?

Really just curious as to how folks would have viewed it. It might be like uh… Garithos coming to Silvermoon and turning out Kael’thas might have blown the whole thing out of proportion… or maybe not like that.

A traitor to the kingdom and she should have been drawn and quartered for regicide, particularly after Daelin was proven right several times over since his death.

The legitimate ruler of Kul Tiras who was maligned and incriminated by Lady Ashvane, a known traitor who was responsible for turning the people against House Proudmoore for her own interests. She’s one of the people responsible for bringing about an era of peace after the end of the Fourth War and has governed the nation with wisdom and integrity, so far.

Not only is my Kul Tiran a mage supremacist, she’s also a vocal patriot. It’s only right that the greatest nation on Azeroth is ruled by a mage.

My trader character, a Kul Tiran, vowed to never deliver magical goods. Mages can’t be trusted, with Jaina being his example.
Also how unstable she seems to be as well, flipping from being angry to soft spoken.

Magic. Not even once.

Three out of Four of my Kul Tirans are from Drustvar (one who is now undead) and the other one is from Stormsong.

The Stormsong is a tidesage and doesn’t look favourably on Jaina because her antics cast a critical eye on other “magic” users.

The Drustvar lot are two druids and a former pig farmer, the druids don’t give two craps and the pig farmer is glad she’s forsaken now having heard the Daughter of the Sea song while growing up and they let her back in?!

It was frustrating because it did seem they were going for a “we won’t forgive you but we won’t refuse you” conclusion, but then they made her Lord Admiral out of the blue and it was really hard to make that work for my Kul Tiran. I mostly played it as a general lack of faith in the Kul Tiran nobility from the ongoing decline preceding BfA and the seemingly rampant nepotism at play with Jaina’s coronation (or whatever the Kul Tiran equivalent is).

Of course she faced no consequences, they’re all the same up there in their high houses.

Jaina should have been executed for her treachery but the game has always struggled to hold certain characters accountable for their actions even as it has killed off others for far lesser perceived crimes.

My Kul Tiran isn’t fond of her and he looks forward to the day where she inevitably dies from old age. Her ascension to a position of leadership played a part in his decision to depart his homeland and become a wandering mercenary.
