I’ve seen a lot of speculation about the origin of Lament of the Highborne, and that it might have an origin in the earlier versions of the Elven language. As such, I have tried my best to make a Darnassian version of the song:
Darnassian:
Anar’alla, Anar’alla Elune
Kaldorei
Thoras’ilisar vora
Kaldorei
Ana’dore Elune
Thoras Kaldorei vor’ana
Thoras’ilisar vora
Kaldorei
Anar’alah Elune
Thoras Kaldorei vor’ana
Thoras’ilisar vora
Kaldorei
Ana’dore Elune
Elune
Practical:
By the light, by the light of Elune
Children of the Stars
Our enemies are breaking through
Children of the Stars
Oh aid us Elune
Our kin are falling
Our enemies are breaking through
Children of the Stars
by the light of Elune
Our kin are falling
Our enemies are breaking through
Children of the Stars
Oh aid us Elune
Elune
Literal:
By the light, by the light Elune
Star borne
Fighting enemies breaking
Star borne
Us be with Elune
Fighting Star borne broken we
Fighting enemies breaking
Star borne
by the light Elune
Fighting Star borne broken we
Fighting enemies breaking
Star borne
Us be with Elune
Elune
I have been trying to figure out what the best translation would be, and I am quite content with my current interpetation. The biggest trouble I had was trying to use ‘broken’ in these two sentences, and how to set up the sentence:
Thoras Kaldorei vor’ana
Thoras’ilisar vora
So I took some artistic liberties, without any grounding in lore.
I’d be happy to hear some improvements!
