Hello fellow members! I am in a pickle here and I need your help!!!
I have been playing wow on a dell 7270 (6500u,8gb ddr4, 128gb Ssd + external Ssd 256gb) everything on 1/10 super low, 900p@60fps (drops to 30 sometimes). I think it is time to buy a new one and I need help choosing… So far I got 3 deals!
Msi bravo (4600h/8gb/rx 5500m) 600€
Msi gf76 katana 17.3(11400h/8gb/rtx3050ti) 700€
Legion 5 17.3(5600h/2*8gb/rtx3060) 1050€
I just wanna play wow no other games on 1080p with decent settings and no constant framedrops!! Since I am in a tight budget the Msi gf76 looks like a sweetspot but I hewrd it overheats like hell and some of the models after 4-8months are going back for repair (burned mobo)… The legion is an overkill and way out of budget but also a very good deal… Should I go for legion or the katana will be just fine and hold wotlk classic max and dragonflight medium-high to for the next 2-3 (maybe 4 years) just perfect???
The Msi bravo is a low budget and It just replaces the dell 12" 6500u with hd graphs…
P. S. I am moving a lot so no stable pc for me I go 4/7 days traveling and the rest 3 days if I spent them on a pc my wife is gonna one shot aggro kill me… :’)
If you put 3070 or higher in the same chassis there can be some but we aren’t talking about such specs.
Look at laptops with GPUs like:
GTX 1660 Ti
RTX 3050 Ti
RX 6500M or up
If shops still have some previous gen laptops with 1660 Ti then those should have solid discounts (say Lenovo Legion 5 15,6"). 3050Ti is current budget solid option and also prices should be somewhat competitive.
From listings there is few models (they list for Germany but similar things should be locally on your market. German laptops have QWERTZ keyboard layouts):
Like the MSI Alpha 15 has bit better GPU than 3050 Ti but at this price point you get mediocre screen, plastic chassis and cooling that will be either loud-ish or bit on the high side.
Greece has a very bad stock so it is hard to find one at a decent price point… Plus the pricing. The rest of the options are 15.6" 4600/5600h, 1slot 8gb ram and rtx 3050 (if lucky 3050ti) at 750-950€. It would be a downgrade from rtx 3050ti and ips 144hz 17.3" screen to drop down to 15.6" ips level and rtx 3050 or 1650 ti (D6)…
Unfortunatelly no rx6000 series or older gens (1660/2060)… The only 2 decent options after a month of constant searching are those two. Katana at 700€ and legion 1050€…
Can Rtx 3050 ti handle wow (retail and classic) 7-8+ settings with 60fps in bgs and raids?
Is the katana a good and stable laptop that wont let me down for 2-3 years or my money will go down the drain picking up a cheap choice…?
Should I put my hand deep in my pocket and invest for the leveno legion 5 with rtx 3060 just to be safe?
All I am gonna say is they “recommend” 16Gb off RAM to play WoW.
I have 8Gb in my laptop and play this game perfectly fine.
Only in Oribos or Orgrimmar I stutter for 3-4 seconds upon loading in, but that is no problem at all…
Edit: I play with the MSI GF63 (Thin) myself, it’s great! Have it for about 2 years now, not a single complaint! (I do use a cooling pad underneat it though but that’s just 15 euro’s from sharkoon lmao.)
If premade 10/10 is “ultra” and 1/10 “low” then 7-8/10 will be high+ settings (logically speaking I am not a 100% sure about that)…
I mean 2years old GF63 Thin would most likely have gtx 1050ti/1060, right? If it plays the game smooth, rtx 3050-ti will be just fine with a good 6core! Also I saw reviews and the stock ram (1x8 or 2x8gb) sucks… You get a 15+ fps plus stable results with a good ram kit. (jarroed reviews, pcmag, linus tech, reddit). So the gf76 katana with 11400h + rtx 3050 ti + 2*8gb aftermarket ram @695-750€ would be a good huge deal and sweetspot
I checked the options and msi alpha 15 (amd advantage) with 5600h+rx6600m is a pretty good deal! And ONLY (without vat, 24% minus the price) a Total sum of 700.56 (ups + premium package).
Problem is they cant ship it to Greece I will either wait for it to come in stock and hope my country will start selling it or go with katana gf76 and 2x8gb of Additional ram for better performance
