Hello Ive been given a laptop with cpu amd 7840hs gpu rtx 4060 and 16gb ddr5 5600MT/s CL46. Is it worth upgrading to 32gb 4800MT/s CL 40 or will it be a fps loss? I see that while im gaming nearly 8 gb of ram is used by chrome and discord etc.
Slower RAM will be a FPS loss in some titles, like WoW which is very CPU-limited and thus benefits from fast RAM.
So if you want to upgrade to 32GB (which i would recommend if you want to have a browser open while gaming) then get 5600 or faster (if the notebook mainboard supports it).
Usually if you build new these days you go for 6000MT/s RAM.
You have a laptop, the manufacture has a list of recommended RAM for upgrades. This is not a desktop PC you cant just buy 6000MT/s RAM. Laptops have a different RAM module.
