My county blocks most websites. I sometiems unlock it to read newspapers , blogs etc. Youtube also used to be blocked. Not anymore tho. We use vpn frequently.
I am aware of this … thats why i asked …
i think if you use a vpn while playing wow … that could cause a high ping… thats at least my first thought … i wonder … can you play wow without a vpn and try to see if that improves your ping ? :-/
Then it becomes 60 ms like u said.
But I travel around. In one of my country (not russia) , wikipedia is even blocked. So I unlock it to read things.
I spent most summer in germany. No vpn in there.
germany has bad internet … at least from what i have seen and if you are in a hotel … well there is nothing positive i can say about hotel internett … but it sounds when you are home your high ping seems to come from a vpn … :-/
travel internet or internett that i have seen when i was in germany has never been … well good
Problem is mostly likely vpn. Like I unlock it to read newspapers on another country.
yea i have no real good solution for sadly …
The issue with Vpn’s is that they are quite CPU intensive … i have a home made router that i use with a vpn and a gigabit fiber connection connected to it … i alone can use like 30-40 % cpu on my vpn just watching youtube … well some of that CPU usage comes from my IDS or IPS systems i have too on that that is using around 5-10% of my cpu usage … thinking of lots of people using a vpn service … that will cause lots of latency on those public vpns you can buy … but its really sad you have to chose between watching youtube or so or playing wow
Not unlocking it when I’m in germany. Only on another country. Its not russia too.
Also people when see cyrillic names they see them as russian. There are many slavic countries.
I main german realm as arena and rated teams there. There are mostly austrians and swiss people too. Not a clever idea to call us russian or german.
Problem is vpn 100% but it wasnt problem before like 1 year ago. Because I used it before. Its just started.
2 days ago 1000ms , vpn shutdown 12 ms.
Solution.
yea i would suspect lots more people use vpns now maybe ? hard to say really. I life in norway where we have really no censorship or so … but people use vpns here now to because they believe they are more secure … something that is not as true … at least not the way they think … same goes for people in germany where my mother is living … though well here internet is not even good enough to watch youtube 720p and she cant get any better … and when i travel to visit her… well mobile network is really bad too …and hotel network … is bad everywhere … Thats at least my thought process … and as i mentioned earlier … vpn’s are quite cpu intensive … so that means the more people use it the slower it gets … and with wow classic launch i would suspect allot more people from many countries will use it …
That said … that does not fit with the description of the OP that mentions latency only going bad after some time … unless he uses a vpn that is picking up trafick everytime after half an hour he starts playing … sounds to odd to me at least … sounds like a local issue from the data he has shown especially with his last traceroute that seemed to be really unstable … i still wonder though what router he is using that reports its domain back as chAdmin … never seen that before … mine reports back as pfsense.domainname… then again i build my own router ^^
Technical support should know the real answers.
Mine is bad only when I’m not in germany and using vpn.
And when I turn off vpn problem is fixed always.
Then maybe your VPN connection is terrible? That’s not something support can fix.
got the same issue except its not 30 minutes before it gets bad… it started with 5 mins with ok latency and now its just a few seconds after every restart. tried restarting. did not work
I had huge latency spikes since I started playing WoW Classic on friday.
Nothing really worked except that I installed a new firmware to my TP-Link router(it is old one but they had 2018 version on website). And updated drivers for my USB wi-fi(ASUS USB-N14).
Maybe it will help if you are having troubles playing through wi-fi.
By the way only Blizzard games were lagging, I had perfect connection in Steam games.
This started happening to me as well, seems odd so many people reporting this all of the sudden and the issue being on there end.
I’m using cable directly from router. I’m not using Vodafone internet nor any VPN and my speedtests while not on WOW show 6 ping, 99.51mb download, 100.73mb upload. No issues on any other games and before this I was able to both stream on twitch with some Chrome webpages open while raiding wow and having sable sub 60 ms. Now I play wow a bit and it starts to skyrocket to 300ms slowly but steadily.
I cant say where your issues are since i dont even have any form for diagnostics … but i can say the OP’s post from his own diagnostics is clearly him and not blizzard …
Also its not of allot of people really as far as i have seen … there are hundret of thousand people that play wow in europe and having always a few like now with latency issue would not be new … but since not everyone is having issues it is right out doubt full there is a server issue
So, no solutions yet? I’m still having this problem too. I’ve tried all possible solustions, even vpn, but nothing works. I start playing with good ping and in 30 min lag raises to 700ms, Since 2019 I haven’t benn apble to play dungeons and raids… could just level and quest (painfully)…
Hi Jaggoroth,
This is a pretty old thread, which can be a bit confusing when resurrected in this way. If you have a similar issue, you’ll want to start by working through the steps here: World of Warcraft Latency Problems.
If you still need further assistance, you’ll want to start a new thread and include the relevant information and diagnostics, such as a WinMTR recorded while the problem is ongoing in-game.
