Hi,
TL;DR - My internet speed (download and upload) decreases drastically when I launch WoW classic and I need some help.
I have a problem with classic WoW and my internet. So whenever I launch the game with or without addons, my internet goes down from 10mbps to 0.5 mbps. My ingame latency is always at 255-256 constant (Me and my friend have the same internet and he plays on 120ms which is the normal ping we in the middle east get when we play on eu server) . I dont feel like i am lagging ingame like when i cast spells or pick up loot. It took me 5 days to figure that WoW was the problem because as soon as i close the game my internet goes up to speed and just by launching the game and staring at my character, it goes down to 0.5mbps. At this point It takes like 10-15 seconds to load a page on google chrome which makes it really annoying and when i try to listen to some music on youtube (it takes a long time to load the video and alot of buffering) while questing with my friend, the discord call starts to lag.
Things I tried:
- Resetting my router and unplugging and re-plugging my ethernet cable.
- I went on system settings and unchecked the “networking speed” thing and the rest 2 boxes were unchecked already.
- Disables all addons.
- Scanning and repairing the game. (No repairs where needed)

If you’re using laptop try this fix as suggested by Dunkar from WoW forums: “fix (for people experience similar problem)- i use a Lenovo gaming laptop, and it has Lenovo nerve sense which has a feature that enhances game experience, I just needed to toggle off the option to give network priority”.

I closed the entire thing!!! Thank you very much.
My internet is not going down now for now. But I need to check it tomorrow when I am on discord with my friend to make 100% sure it worked.

I can confirm this works on a Lenovo PC also. Lenovo has Vantage in which you can change what gets priority on your network. My speed constantly dropped from 1 Gb to 014 something the moment I started WoW. Apparently I had checked that games would get priority. Now I changed that and I have my 1Gb back :). May it be of help to others.

We moved from EU to NA. Our internet is 1gig and we went 5 months with no problem. As soon as I started playing on WOW classic on EU servers while streaming on Discord - my family loses wifi. Service provider says no issues. Router is fine. The only time it happens is when I’m doing these two things and I don’t understand because WOW uses hardly any data. Any ideas?
