Lava lash / primal act build 9.1

wanting to try to go off-meta (not liking 3min ascend.) I went for the typical lava lash build (lashing flames, hot hand, elem spirits) in addition to the primal actuator legendary, to test out if it was really not viable as everyone says (in comparison to doomwinds meta),
But the damage output turns out to be the same, yet a bit more messy to keep a good rotation. ST simulation gives the same dps and testing out mythic+ (13 to 15), the overall is similar if not a bit better on tyrannical. (the sham tested on is 232)
So I really wonder why doomwinds is just on 90% of shaman (10% being witch doctor), I mean, there must be a precise reason if no-one around the top shamans uses it, is the windfury proc too good to pass on higher ilvls? I would enjoy if some qualified enhanc. player could give a feedback on this build on its current state…

Lava actuators and Hot hands are kinda anti synergistic with each other. It’s just better to go for wolf bones and pray to get a lot of fire wolves from your rolls if you want to play a Lava lash centric build. Luckily in this raid that build happens to also be the go to build.

Primal lava actuators itself is anti-synergistic. Why would you decrease the cooldown of an ability AND also increase its damage by flameshock ticks? So you get your lava lash faster that’s cool but you still want to wait for it to stack up to 9 in order to get the maximum benefit from it. It is so strange.

I’ve been playing enhance for quite a while and this is my theorycraft about how this legendary could work.

Legendary Rework

  1. If you have flameshock on 3 or more targets lava lash damage is increased by 80~%(changed)
  2. Reduce the cooldown of Lava Lash by 0.5 sec with every flameshock tick (unchanged)

Talent rework

Lashing flames

  1. Casting lava lash applies flame shock to your main target and 2 more closest targets.(new)
    2)Casting Lava lash applies lashing flames to your main target and 2 more closest targets.(changed)
    3)Lashing flames increases the damage of Flame Shock on its target by 45% for 15 sec.(changed)

Even if this looks strong the reality is that enhance AoE is Bottom Tier and tied to Doom Winds too much.

This way Primal lava actuators can be a pretty decent build with Fire Nova for dungeons or AoE raid encounters where we mostly suffer from .

If any blizz employee is looking at this please make it work or contact me I keep in touch with many other Enhancement shamen that would like to share their ideas on how to make the spec work with the new talents additions you have implemented.

Not that qualified (did not go past +19/20) this and previous season, so if more experienced players want, ofc can shine their light in the matter.

To answer some questions:

As you state, single target simulations are more or less the same on your level, as you get more gear, you will see the wolf bones lego build pull ahead in single target situtations because of its scaling.
The reason DW is preffered in mythic+, is that the damage proffile is better for burst damage and aoe. This remains the case until you reach higher keys and mobs start surviving for more than a minute. For those cases, I have no experience to share stuff, but if you are interested, i fine the content that Waves creates quite good (he is a mythic raider/m+ pusher enh shaman, and i consider him a pretty good player)

It numerically is just better for damage when more targets are enganged. The only exception i can think of, is when you are playing with premades with 2 burst aoe specs, and you would want to sacrifice overall damage, to boost your group’s sustained single target damage (pretty small possibility but still).

Nice suggestions and ideas, but just a reminder, Theorycrafting refers to analysis of existing game mechanics for the purpose of optimization. What you shared falls into the category of idea/rework.

Thank’s for your feedbacks and feelings on this, indeed, going on higher keys it becomes too much of a pain to put up and quite unreliable in aoe situations,

At first sight it felt to me like a great idea to put up an aoe rotation with the crash lightning enhance buff but it ends up quite underwhelming.

Indeed it would be great if flameshock could be spread (there is literally an anima power doing it “heart of the deathseer”, so it should be here, on the primal act memory maybe instead of the talent).

I wish in future patchs some tuning will be done so that was can be more free on memory and talent choices, sham enhancement really needs some attention.
