League of Legends in WOW

Imagine a World of Warcraft Battleground like Smite or League;

3 lanes and jungle, the objective is to destroy turrets and minions.

We all start with grey gear and as we level in the Battleground we earn gold to buy back our epic gear that we earned in raids or mythic plus.

I had a dream about this, so just wanted to share it with the community.

You do realise, Warcraft 3 essentially had mod called DOTA that was this very thing right? Or HOTS?

Unless you meant more like a “first person” type MOBA upon which I daresay, there are some competitors on the market out there like SMITE and the new alpha game from Valve, Deadlock. Do try that latter one out!

I find this a stupid suggestion. If I want to play a moba I will go play LoL, Dota 2 or Smite. They are better than what ever Blizzard can come up with. They even had a whole team dedicated to Hots and that failed. So no from me to a moba like in WoW

If I would like to play more MOBA I would go back to Heroes of the Storm. That is if they make a new engine for it, fixing reconnect among other things.

However there were an attempt to make BGs like this in Azshara crater as early as in Vanilla WoW, but it was cancelled.

There was an early concept of a Battleground map in the works years ago, that resembled a MOBA map with lanes and minions and all that. I think there are some datamined information on it…somewhere.
So Blizzard have certainly toyed with the idea, but to say that they’ve ever been very productive with making new Battleground maps would be a lie.

just play dota or lol game?

Didn’t they kind of want to do that back in Legion(?) or BFA(?) already? I remember plans of a BG that should play similar to a MOBA. It was named somthing with “Azshara” iirc. They later on scrapped that idea though.

Or did I just imagine this happening?

Blizz already tried this with Alterac Valley. Worst BG ever.

He wants a Battleground map where each side pushes 3 lanes with siege engines etc or something like that.

Blizzard had that as an idea back in the days but they scrapped it. The Defense of the Alehouse map

While the idea sounds fun, I wouldn’t want it. It leaves too many questions for me which creates doubt.

How is the stats going to work? Currently, versatility is to a high degree the prio stat in PVP, but when you introduce mobs, does it then mean some people will run M+ AoE builds to farm the mobs instead? If that is the case, then we’re back to the issue that prevailed during BFA, with some PVE trinkets being broken in PVP and generally the tendency of having to do PVE to do PVP and vica versa, has not been super fun for a lot of PVP players (hence the change they made)

So I think the idea is fun in theory, but in practice it will be chaos and the resource allocation will probably just mean more PVP modes that are not fun due to balancing issues etc
