if league of legends netflix show can bring them millions, why not with wow aswell ? (just no wow movie…)
just make people kill army of demons and its enough.
Riot as a company do passion projects all the time, blizzard only go for cash grabs that flop with the audience.

WoW requires a lot a lot of investment compared to a MOBA. Kids just don’t have the attention span these days. Blame social media, it’s probably to blame anyway.
F2P is not a passion project it’s a (successful) cash extraction project.
Lets not forget, League of Legends popularity and player base is so huge because the accessibility not to mention the E-sport potential
Free-to-play model without any price tag. The money comes from cosmetics that provided no in-game benefits aside from aesthetics
As soon as LoL would be sub-based, it would die in a second
And of course it is a MOBA not an MMORPG
Comparing them is hard; what works there wouldon’t work with wow, including a TV show - a WoW TV show probably would end up like Rings of Power

I mean they released the show arcane and also went to a bunch of small game developers and said “heres some money, we want you to make whatever game you like and just let us know which of our characters of ours you’d like to use”… it worked out pretty well.
Arcane is a rarity. It was a huge surprise to me and a 10/10 series liked by everyone and their mother. In no way could Blizzard pull off something like that. The world of Runeterra also seems more… flexible and easier to have a story for modern audiences in. The music was dope too so while it’s fantasy, it’s more like a new wave fantasy.
They tied in-game rewards to releases of the episodes - made even me reinstall LoL back then.
It also brought plenty of people to their card game as they heard about the “toxicity” of LoL and didn’t necessary want to engage in that.
On paper it sounds like it might be a good idea, but then you remember where we are at now, and you realise that it would just be an excuse to rewrite old lore into the modern World of Wokecraft that the new trash writers are pushing on us now.

when marvel started to sell all their characters, disney bought the rights for the c-tier characters that no other company wanted to buy and they made the MCU with it (i think they were outbid).
any competent writer can figure out how to take a story and adapt it to the small screen and make it interesting.

The warcraft movie in 2015 was actually really popular, but I think they aren’t capable currently to produce a good show. Arcane was in development for !!!years!!! Even if they decided to do this, which I doubt, it will take a very very long time, until it reaches similar quality as arcane for example

If the show is amazingly good then it would get more players. But would they be able to make something good. With the current trends i feel like it would more likely go the woke route like the witcher show instead of trying to focus on a good story and show based on its source material.
remember the warcraft movie? not a terrible movie by all means , but it was probably confusing to people who dont play wow and to wow players it just didnt feel entirely right casting and lore wise.
But if they can do a good show based on a game like castlevania or vox machina then i would love it.
I have exactly 0 trust in current Blizzard regarding stories and anything ballsy and original.
But I guess they could produce something decent, like that Dota series I never watched.
Neverthless, I would of course love to be proven wrong.
I mean you also had cyberpunk which in my opinion was even better than arcane. someone will disagree but nonetheless they were both great, nothings stopping blizzard from doing the same aside of lacking talents

They have the rights to all characters in print.
Only really Spider-Man and related characters they don’t have the movie rights to.
But Disney owns Spider-Man.
Blizzard won’t and can’t do this anymore. They almost killed the ip with the evermore ridiculous stories and plot armor of certain characters.
WoW isn’t about warcraft anymore, it’s a simplified Diablo simulator for world first races and time run dungeons.
We lost the story driven mmorpg and entered a greater rift system some years ago.

Blizzard does not have the talent to make an amazing story anymore.
Californification hit them hard.
Their greatest talents either CBA, retired or were ousted.
A lot of their newer decision makers are probably picked based on phenotype and/or beliefs.
because wow is not casual friendly game that offers nice experience of having instanly fun when you have free 20-30 minutes of your time.
instead wow requires crazy comitment and offers 0 casual friendly experience in game.
and nothing in wow will change untill "i cater content to only top 1 % and streamers i am Ion " will be fired from blizzard.
any normal company would get rid of that guy years ago. guess he was smart and collected enough evidence that he can now blackmail everyone in there about their atrocious behaviours in blizz.
thats why normal corporations do their yearly “cullings”
to ensure that burned out people are out and they constantly recruit new people who still want to work instead pretend they work .
blizz just dont care thats why they try to sell you garbage expansion after garbage expansion and then place vendor npc with transmogs in game and pretend its a huge gamechanging patch .
gg the intern who did that in 1 day of work will sure get praised while they can all do nothing there and pretend to work
The armor sets are probably made by A.I. by now
