I have just created a Wow account and started playing retail. My character is a druid and I would like to level leatherwoking. So I went to Stormwind to the trainer there and pressed a lot of leatherworking training buttons. My character is now level 28 and I now have a level 2 Garrison. I built a Tannery and the trainer there has a bunch of Purple recipes for decent gear that just require Secrets of Draenor Leatherworking. But I do not seem to be able to get this recipe even though I am told I can train Draenor Leatherworking at Stormshield of Stormwind. I’m guessing I have to be a certain level for Draenor Leatherworking to appear (?) But the only recipes I have are really high level stuff requiing savage leather, and dragonscale…?? How to I level with Vanilla recipes?
Thanks
Pretty sure WoD Leatherworking is some sort of drop or there is quest for it. Lot of WoD peofessions were learned from recipes what droped or were rewarded for quest.
There is 0 point in you levelling professions that aren’t in Dragonflight. All of the stuff is outdated and of no use to you, you’d get better from quests.
If you’re dead set upon it then you need to go to the Cataclysm base zones that were originally vanilla zones (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms below level 30). Here is a helpful website about levelling professions in all the expansions: https://www.wow-professions.com/profession-leveling-guides
You’ll need to learn Draenor Leatherworking to start Learning WoD recipes and gain skills there. Should be a trainer in the garisson building. The Trainer in Stormwind will have taught you Classic Leatherworking, I suspect.
All the professions are now separated into Expansion specific skill-sets. You can skip expansions at will so you don’t need to Learning classic leatherworking before starting on TBC or Wrath etc.
The Secrets of Draenor were a Daily Cooldown back in the day, I assume they still are. So you can make one per day, I think. Perhaps you can make more when your skill rises to certain levels.
There should be guides on wowhead that explain it better than I can.
You are guaranteed the Draenor quest for skinning the moment you kill your first creature. The only other thing you need is the Draenor leatherworking which you can buy for 100 gold in Warspear or Strormshield. I assume you have that.
Your question suggests you want to level vanilla which is Classic. The lists for Classic and Cata are a drop down menu from the selected Draenor button top middlish on the interface. Its a bit confusing cus you select Classic then have to click the red X to actually get the Classic recipes.
For Draenor recipes just check out the ‘unlearned’ section and all recipes will become available at the appropriate leatherworking proficiency at the trainer. You can tell what you can currently create from the ‘learned’ skills. What you learn is bought from the trainer when you have the required skill level. Same with all professions.
I think your reference to Vanilla is referring actually to the early recipes in WoD. Sadly none of this is really going to be of any use at all cus as someone else pointed out professions lag way behind your actual levelling process and in no time you will be Level 45 and able to one shot raids solo on Mythic in Draenor so what is the point. Professions have become pretty useless other than for say making a few gold on the AH. Just do the quests, level and burn your way to 60 rather than waste loads of time doing stuff that isn’t really of any help.
PS Time was you had to learn professions from the ground up and could only progress by doing Classic then TBC then Wrath then Cata and on and on. You don’t need to now so Dragonflight recipes become available the minute you get there.
