Leech is utter garbage

Ok, so im sitting at about 25% leech with corruption item and pet buff. It’s completely useless in pvp situations and barely gives anything. I actually don’t get why it would be worth the corruption

Au contraire… it’s extremely strong when you go full versatility and leech build. Last patch, I was immortal with it, having some 27% leech and versatility each. Of course, this applies only to random BGs and world PvP, as it’s pointless in rated.

This assumes, though, that you actually have good enough gear and both know how to play your own class and how to counter the classes you are fighting against. Leech and versatility won’t help you here.

Tell that to demon hunters pls. But I do agree, there’s a lot more favorable corruptions.

Asif im gonna get 27% vers too, not even with 1000 hrs of playing

Thanks your for feedback dude

27% versatility and leech was last patch (I had leech and versa stat on each single piece of gear). How high you can go depends on your class and luck, but you should be able to get as high as 50% versa and 20% leech (more with classes that have innate leech like DHs or Assassination Rogues), depending on gear and corruptions + essences + azerite traits.

But it’s a grind to get there. You have to target and farm the pieces in Mythic+ or Raid, and hope for luck with corruptions (addressed by new vendors).

Point is, it works, you will be literally immortal outside of long stuns and no CDs against bursty classes like rets - but it’s annoying to farm and you need to get lucky.

And so my point is, it is utter garbage. Unless you have no life and no job, enough time to sink with a healthy dosage of luck…

Is hunters leech somehow nerfed in pvp for hunters etc? I have a leech pet and talent and barely get any life back while my dh who has far less leech gets tons of it.

I think you have to be extremely lucky to get that much leech gear, and even more so with versa…Like i have been saving all 8.3 and got maybe 4 pieces from the range 440 - 460 ilvl.

Sure, my friend. That is true. However, haven’t you noticed yet? This whole expansion has been like that. Pointless, long, piss of a grind full of RNG - grind neck levels, then grind essences, then grind reputation for flying, then grind cloak, then grind corruptions, then grind sockets… Warforge, titanforge, roll sockets just to be replaced with massive, brain-hemorrhage of luck-based multi-layer RNG on corruptions - gear item, corruption type, corruption rank, and whether it fits into your existing setup…

If you want to play this game and have easy, fun time of things in casual PvP, grind is your bread and butter.

Or roll a Demon Hunter.

Yes, quite lucky. But, I also played a lot, especially mythic+. With 8.3, you can get leech from even more sources, making it easier, i.e. corruptions. On top of that, you need to also utilize all the heal essences like Crucible main. As I said, annoying to farm and requiring a little bit of luck but doable.

Why would you go for leech when you can go for 12% versatility on every slot?
brb getting 50% flat damage reduction at all times

Because versatility is not such a good offensive stat for many classes and many classes can outburst (Ret Paladin) or outheal (DH) or outkite-and-kill (feral) the pure versatility builds. Of course, depending on specific class. If you combine the versatility with leech, you will make it much more efficient, especially since leech bakes defense into offense (one of the two reasons why DHs are so powerful).

It’s a gimmick build but it works wonders and in its basic form it’s not difficult. Get the leech enchant on weapon, 3x Blood Siphon azerite traits, best the leech corruption + Crucible major and all versa/healing essences in minor (Lucid Dreams/Conflict and Strife). Put on as much versa/leech gear + sockets + enchants as possible. Get defensive/healing talents and PvP talents… and have mindless fun in casual PvP.

No need to overthink. You will be tanky and will heal with the damage that you do. All that is to it. If you know how to play your class, it will be a blast.

i just dont see the appeal, sure leech is good for recovering damage but why not just stack versatility and simply not take said damage in the first place since you’re walking around with permanent wall up? but hey to each their own

As I have said above, because that damage reduction alone will not help you. You will still be killed by classes that can out-damage or out-heal you. With versat + leech, no one will kill you. Out of cca 50 BGs I’ve played with my versat/leech build, I got killed maybe 5 times. All in stuns without trinket with bursty classes.

If I didn’t have my leech gear but more competitive versatility + haste gear and proper damage traits/talents/essences, I could do more damage but you sometimes simply won’t survive due to lack of sustained healing. And that is, as rogue, with 30% heal on 30 second CD and 15% damage reduction on 15 second CD and it still wasn’t enough.

But if you don’t understand the difference, that’s also fine. Play as you like. The original question was whether it’s useless in PvP and based on experience, the answer is garbage in competitive but great in casual, providing you have enough of it.
