Legacy Loot not actually personal loot?

I ran uldaman with a friend for some tmog and since i done it quite some times solo for rares i noticed that the mobs arent personal loot and neither are the bosses, by the amount of gold etc they dropped.

Just so you understand my problem here and what i mean. In the past you looted a 5 man grp worth of loot, even when you were alone, then it was turned to forced personal what meant you received 1 player worth of loot, and now i just realized even as a grp you loot 1 player worth all together.

Is this intended or a bug?

What do you mean with 5 man group loot? A boss will award 1 piece of loot in a dungeon. So unless you’re telling us that you’re not getting 1 drop per dungeon when running solo or with a friend then it’s working as intended. Gold drops have been nerfed because blizzard.

Gold drops were nerfed bc of bots as far as i know.

The 5 man group loot was the original form, before they implemented forced personal loot. It didn’t matter if it was a 5 man grp or you were solo the mob would still drop loot as if 5 persons would split it (in a dungeon). Just to answer that.

2 drops per boss, but yeah you answered it, since we received 2 pieces total every boss.

But why the normal mobs are shared when it should be personal that’s what confuses me.

Then it is personal loot as back when the dungeons were current you got 1 piece of loot per boss shared between the whole group.

as i understand it:

Personal loot (current at content up to 11 levels lower than what you currently are) gives you a chance at 1 item per boss that can be equipped by your class only.

Legacy loot (content at content 12 levels or more lower than what you currently are) gives you ALL the loot the boss would drop to the party. how much loot you get is dependent on what you are doing. i honestly dont do too much 5 man legacy as the amount of time to gold/new transmog ratio is a lot lower than raids. but in relation to raids, even though legacy is active on both for a 120, TBC raids will typically give you 2 pieces of gear per boss whereas WoD 25hc raids can give 5-7 pieces. all gear dropped will be from the entire loot table though, not specifically for your class, so of course you get trinkets/rings/necks/relics.

im not entirely sure what you are asking, but if i remember right, uldaman at 120 would give 1 piece of random gear per boss (maybe 2 if you are lucky) cause 5 mans usually only gave 1 piece.

the only visual difference between legacy and personal in a 5 man is that it wont be cloth only (in op’s case) that drops. it could be anything. to see significant differences, you would need to start doing wotlk+ raids.

Legacy loot applies if a raid is 11 levels lower than you are (officially it says 10 but previous expansion doesn’t Legacy until you are 1 level over cap). If it’s the last expansion it will not trigger Legacy loot and you will only get Personal loot.

This old blue post might help explain.

Since the Patch 7.3.5 change to use personal loot rules in leveling dungeons, we’ve heard a lot of feedback from Transmog hunters concerned about how this has affected the ability to collect appearances from older content. We hear you, and agree it’s a problem, so we’ve been working on a more robust solution for Battle for Azeroth.

Once these updates are implemented, entering a dungeon or raid that is trivial for you (i.e.: your character is more than 10 levels higher than the dungeon or raid’s intended level) will activate a “legacy loot mode.” That loot mode will work like this:

  • The number of items dropped by bosses will be the same as it would have been if you were in a full party. So if you’re in a 5-player dungeon, you’ll get 5 players’ worth of loot.
  • For raids with a flexible raid size (such as Raid Finder), this will act as though there were 20 players in the raid.
  • All items on the loot table will have a chance to drop, not just the ones that are designated for your spec.
  • If you have multiple players in the group, the loot will be split among those players, but be tradeable. For example, if you’re clearing with one other player and kill a boss that should drop 4 items, you’ll each be able to pick up two items and trade them between each other if you like.

While the personal loot change was a key part of what allowed us to expand leveling dungeons to encompass a wider range of levels, and we’re happy with it in that environment, we recognize that it’s not a great experience for those who enjoy clearing older content for transmog, and hope that these changes will make that more enjoyable once they’re complete.

Thanks again for all of the feedback!

oh noes :frowning:

I don’t really want this to disrupt this topic and turn it into another portal debate. There is a huge topic for that. However I will say they have read the feedback, have decided they will go ahead as planned and see if it’s really the big problem that people think it’s going to be once it’s been tried for a while.

For once I do feel that Blizzard are damned no matter what they do. Blizzard is accused of not interacting with the playerbase on forums, that they ignore players feedback. They go through the feedback given on EU and NA and post a response specifically addressing the issues raised but because they aren’t caving in to demands we get this.

this wasn’t meant to be about portals. it was that statement which almost personifies them now. and was relevant in the part you quoted about “we hear you and agree its a problem”.

unfortunately, i keep getting the subject matter about portals linked when i only want what the blue said :frowning: actually, in the same way me quoting your quote about “we hear you” makes it look like you said it, and were not just quoting it.

come on, really, if they put any real thought into transmog, surely they would have removed necks rings and trinkets (and relics) by now? and done more for people trying to collect transmog as a specific and unique type of content?

My bad, I misunderstood

That’s actually a really sensible suggestion.

you sound surprised xD

and not your fault. the way it brings the thread link as well as the comment makes it misleading to whatever the intent is behind it :frowning: almost makes you think blizz didn’t want their blanket statements being used as blanket responses? xD /tinfoilhat

I’m surprised I never heard it before or thought of it myself

while i had thought of this before seeing anyone else mention it, i have seen it mentioned in a couple of transmog threads in the past.
not to speak for the transmog community, but if blizz put just a tiny bit of love into the transmog aspect of content, then these MAY be the first 4 changes asked for?

  1. remove non moggable items from legacy loot tables. necks, rings, trinkets and relics.
  2. minimise, or reduce duplicate drops. having a boss drop 5 items, and 4 of them be “ring of blah blah” is not fun. and yes, i have seen 4 of the same item drop many times. obviously 3 and 2 of the same item happens a lot too. even if its 4 of a moggable item, it is still very frustrating.
  3. have any legacy item dropped be added to your wardrobe as your transmog wardrobe is account wide anyway. or at least any item that toon can equip. yes, this will lead to all transmog runs being done by warriors (unless you like wands!), but at least it will remove the frustration of your clothie running “dungeon X” over 100 times and still not getting that last cloth item drop, and your plate wearing running though it once while bored and getting the cloth drop.

bonus 2 requests:

  1. more comprehensive transmog wardrobe UI
  2. better rng (i wish!)

again hard care moggers (which… i might be? but am not part of that community anyway) might know if these ideas are actually wanted or not.

that gives me an idea…
