So there I was strolling down the celebration tent to see what people had to offer.
Then I see that zandalar tribe and wintersaber rep tokens are up for sale. I get thorium although they took a long time back then. Think Hydraxian and Thorium can still be farmed so I get those. NP but Zandalar and Wintersaber…
Just want to mention that I find it an insult that what people worked hard for in the past now is just trash up for grabs.
Wintersaber costed me weeks/months to complete. Rep in vanilla was even worse with 20 rep which got better but, now you can just buy it. It’s part of wow achievement to work for something. Getting wintersaber tokens man I find that just offensive to all the people who worked hard for that.
Zandalar is supposed to be unobtainable. I remember back in the day doing ZG weekly and trade tokens to get that rep up, also using AH which was costly to get the head enchant. Now its somehow back for a cheesy 50 badges, like how is that not an insult.
If we are going down this lane and diminish the worth of those “achievements” why not throw in Shendralar and Ravenhold. I know they give achievements but so did Zandalar and wintersaber as a feat of strenght.
Just my 2 cents. I am sure many don’t agree and I respect that but thats just how I look at it.
I got loads of items in Molten Core a few years ago when farming the Paladin set in there.
Those were tradable to someone in Blackrock in a pub I seem to remember, that got me exalted really easily.
Old content has been easy forever.
I did Netherwing a few years ago and it was very easy as I was well higher than TBC max level.
This is how the game works. You get better gear and more levels and older content is no longer a challenge.
Of course they do things like Timewalking to make some older content still relevant.
Or they scale you in some things like Mage Tower. But this is rare in the game.
It’s like rep now is beneficial to us now, whereas next expansion, it’ll be nothing but an achievement to get or some collectables to grind for. It’s like saying why are people allowed to run mythic legacy raids now when it was really hard in the past. It is just a small bit of content filler now, not meant to be a grind.
you can always find some rep “on sale” in next expansions (or timewalking).
plus, if you “worked hard” (in a game?) to get rep high back then, you gained the feeling of walking as privileged among your peers and nobody can take that away from you.
I felt a little bad about getting the Hero of the Zandalar Tribe. Not anymore though.
As for the rest: it’s 20 year old reputations, it’s about time they’re possible to get without having to spend a year in a stupid raid (Hydraxian Waterlords) or going through 20 days of stupid dailies. And it’s not as if they aren’t still there (well, except for the Zandalar Tribe ofc), ppl can still go do that if they want the “authentic experience”… but let’s be honest, if that’s what they wanted they’d be playing classic and not grinding timewarped badges
