Legion and Dragonflight: the polar opposites

When people talk about Shadowlands , they talk how crap it was - period.

But I have to agree with you , even as a person who missed out on Legion, mainly due to real life - I regret not playing it , while It absolutely sickening how much worse in terms of aesthetic, feel and rewards and collectibles we have as tmog are available in Dragonflight.

Like I can just take a glance at people who have completed mage tower in legion to get the artifacts appearances or Mythic Halls of Valor ensembles and be super jelly.

Will I be jelly if I see someone with hat from Niffen Rep or ugly abberus armor ? Hell no.

TLDR;
Didn’t play legion, but still see only coolness from that expac , super jealous that we just get trader post crap now.

Edit; added more stuff to not seem mean

and still we had more content in legion than in df and legion wasnt a cut addon like sl and df.
in df you wait until season starts otherwise nothing to do

Niffen Rep…I don’t understand why that even exist in the first place…

True, couldn’t agree more. Draenor just had a feel, I don’t know how to put it in words. It felt like WoW.

I feel you. I love snow and snowy maps but that one was just epic man. The way the snow was blown away, the sounds, the atmosphere…

Looking forward to WoD classic lmao.

dude legion had the best pvp out there, there were no manipulation with gear in random bgs like now, pvp now is not even fun…I am sorry, Legion with its flaws beat BFA, SL and DF combined.

Ah yes, that must be why you played PvP for only ONE of the SEVEN PvP seasons in Legion:
https://check-pvp.fr/eu/Outland/Denaya

I played the first 5 and it was garbage because class design was braindead.

And yet I really hated pvp during Legion. Not sure why, dh’s being a major pest was part of it as a healer lol, but I found it extremely unenjoyable. And I loved doing random bg’s ever since Wrath when a friend kept dragging me in and the pvp bug bit me. I quit doing it then and I never fully got back to it again like I did before Legion.

I know why. That’s because how good PvP is purely determined by how fun it is to play your character. How many tools you have to deal with each situation you’re facing.
You, my guildmates and I disliked PvP in Legion because class design was terrible.

Legion removed most spells which weren’t either directly related to damage or healing.
PvP was basically turned into PvE as a result. A pure damage race, with no complexity, no depth whatsoever, and 0 outplay potential.

Oh! My opponent is casting a powerful spell - what should I do? Interrupt it?
Impossible - Legion removed my interrupt from the game. Guess I’ll just outheal the damage then.

That sucked very much indeed. You may be right that that was at least part of the issue, things suddenly felt more clunky in pvp. In pve it felt ok, the artifact weapon and its effects were fun, the legendaries created a variety in what to use where, and I even did some raiding during Legion and that’s a rare occurrence

But pvp felt gutted for me.

Indeed.
Legion was very much a PvE expansion. Its class design worked perfectly there, because it created fun ways to deal damage.

For PvP though…You lacked options compared to other expansions.
You were sitting there, thinking: “2 years ago, I could have pressed this button here and saved the day, but now I’m powerless” and that was very frustrating. You had the skill and game knowledge to make perfect plays - but the buttons just weren’t on your action bars anymore.

Thank God for Shadowlands and Dragonflight. For all their flaws, they did start the unpruning.

You had to grind your pvp talents in Legion. In early seasons you also needed AP, but grinding it through PvP was extremely inefficient.

Gear still mattered too, it was just streamlined to percentage advantages. Gearing in DF is much easier.

Class design was braindead, and especially in early seasons balance was nonexistent. I still remember DHs with 200% leech.

Ah yes, I remember how the active version of Soothing Mist was locked behind Ancient Mistweaver Arts, one of the LAST PvP talents on the tree.
You need level 45/50 or something.

Just fantastic playing with that passive Soothing Mist until you reached that point.

I completely forgot about that. I only remember doing a few bg’s, deciding I hated it and only giving it a try a few times later, and still coming to the same conclusion lol.

It was bizarre to me tho, random bg’s were so hilariously fun to me before, and I could spam queue them for nights on end before. And suddenly this content was just dead for me.

I stopped BGs too.

But I think the reason I stopped is simply that all my friends quit in Legion. Carrying BGs with our little death squad was fun, but playing these alone feels pointless.
Most players in random BGs are casual players - which is fine, but there’s barely any challenge as a result. It’s like a guy with Mythic gearing doing normal dungeons.

The new solo queue RBG format might revive this bracket for me though.

I hope it will for you. I haven’t even looked at it yet and what it will entail.

It’s as the name says.
You can queue for Ranked BGs by pressing one button, without using the LFG tool. Just like random BGs.
Since it will be ranked though, people will be able to earn all the ranked rewards from this format: conquest gear, elite appearances, etc.
You can also “solo queue” with 2 people if one of you is a healer, which is nice.

A few changes have been made to make games quicker though. Mounts run at twice the speed for example. The average length of a game is something like 8 minutes.

That actually sounds like it could be very fun! Thank you for the info

Legion was honestly trash. I enjoyed Dragonflight significantly more even though I wish I could rip 10.1 and season 2 out entirely.

You’re welcome.
This feature will exist for good in TWW, in its ranked format.

For now, they have added a permanent brawl to “beta test” this feature for this patch.
Just open the PvP tab and search for “Battleground blitz”, it’s the last option after all the brawls.

For me, Legion was GREAT because of class orderhalls - those were AMAZING! and also new Dala :face_holding_back_tears:
It was fun when they added the brand new M+ and who didn’t love dad’gars head in a bubble :joy:
Legendaries was exiting, but I can’t forget the awfull RNG, all the cries about it on the forums, or all the flaming I got because I brought a brand new Guardian Druid in a M+ and almost instantly looted Luffa’s.
The zones were… okay I guess. I wasn’t too fond of it tbh.

Lore sort of died somewhat to me, since they started to bring it outside the game in comic/books. Maybe thats why I am not really too bothered by it’s blandness this time around.

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I SUPER love DF! I love the zones, the quests, the music and the dragonriding and I am absolutely loving the new island. For me, this expansion can easily rank in the top 3 of mine, if not top 2.
Mind you though, I have been away since the very start so it is all new and shiny to me right now.
