Legion vs Bfa vs Shadowlands

Hello everyone, on the Legion expansion what was the best things that makes Legion great and whats is your opinion for Bfa and what do you expect from Shadowlands? For me, legion was really great. Legendary system, Artifact weapons, dungeons and raids, maps and lore. I liked all so much. For Bfa I dont even talk about it. Because this expansion totally disappointment for me. Specially azerite armors and essences, maps, raids. For Shadowlands, I hyped so much when I wacthed gameplay trailer. They are bringing back some skills that we used before and level descrease will be nice. There is similar legendary system like in Legion and it seems lore will be interesting.

Legiondaries were total garbage, don’t forget initial softcap to 4 so people could make another alt if you were unlucky on your main. Literally worst system ever made.

Tier sets take took up 6 slots, legiondaries another 2, weapon one = 6 armor slots.

Artifact weapons overpowered so much rest of the gear could not compare, had to farm AP for each spec separately, plus relics.

RNG legendary trinket from last boss. Unstable arcanocrystal farming…

Yeah I passed, it was one of the worst expansions.

BfA is mediocre but azerite gear is 2nd best thing blizzard introduced (configurable tier sets available not only from raids.)

Shadowlands just doesn’t have anything, but I have low expectations.

BFA had some of the best zones in the game imo and war mode with the daily assault in 8.1 was awesome (you know, when people who actually wanted to wpvp all went to the same zone and killed each other for no reason ?)

Don’t get your hopes too high for skills they haven’t shown yet, for all we know they may have shown us pretty much every change they plan to make (very unlikely tho, but don’t get too hyped so early)

Still gotta know how thorgast will work but so far it sounds much better than the legion Lego did.

Kinda unfair tho, if anything BFA had great raids overall and the next one should be massive.

Imo shadowlands looks great so far, I like the concept of having multiple talent trees you can swap depending on your needs, the covenants rewards looks awesome and the solo challenge rogue like tower sounds amazing. But we currently lack a lot of details which may either make this expansion a huge success or a disaster.

Wait and see ?

Legion wasn’t great.
Yes, we had tons of content, but what’s the point of having content if you don’t enjoy your class?
The pruning, class overhauls & dumbing down of my character drove me away from the game. Legion is the first expansion that lead me to cancel my subscription for more than a year.

Loved it but with flying it’s just not the same. I would spend a really long time on these assaults, without a group, just riding from WQ spot to WQ spot to kill as much Alliance as possible.

Liked both Legion and BfA… Shadowlands, will have to wait and see, I don’t play the Betas for new Expansions, so it’s all fresh on Launch day.

Yea, only if it wasnt either few months for 1 piece or lotery… Also some specs got so unbalanced traits its not healthy, while class A with 3x biss trait has boosted dos by 5k class B has dos boost with bis traits by 20k… And in the end their dps is same.

Im not saying its bad system… Its just it feels more like class fix/balance tool than anything else, and it randomnes outside of raids makes just everything worse

If shadowlands breaks spec favoring class, then…Well, it could be good…But bad. I’m being honnest. To which extent a DPS warrior using shields for 1 or 2 utilitary spells is improving Warrior’s rotation ?

I feel this is disingenuous statement.

It started out bad, but it got good by the end once they practically gave everyone every legendary and lowered all of the time gates.

Legion wasn’t anywhere near as bad as Cata or WoD

As for Shadolands: only thing I hope is that there are no insane time-gates and rep grinds which made me quit both Legion and BfA at the begining. I just hope I can stay active for the entire expansion and actually get the flying this time around.

The artifact and melee survival hunter (loved it’s Legion iteration so much) were the biggest highlights for me. Legion had bad things and BfA has great things, one that comes to mind is vulpera, which will be playable in the near future, so it’s not to say that one is perfect and the other is trash.

But Legion was very engaging, unlike BfA, and I think it’s because I was in love with my main spec, and that’s something I don’t have in this expansion. There just isn’t anyone character I have as much fun playing as I did shadow priest in WoD and survival hunter in Legion. So I’m hoping for the next expansion the unpruning and the promised rework will create again a class or a spec that I just can’t wait to log in and play.

On a more cautions note, I’m a bit apprehensive at the requirements of the covenants next expansion. My plan is to collect all the transmog and rewards that come with that system, but if the requirements aren’t alt friendly, I’m afraid doing it all sixteen times over will burn me out.

For me, these two expansions are among the worst three. I disliked both of them. There was no upside for either Legion or BfA as far as I am concerned. If I had to choose one feature in Legion that was the best thing, it would probably be mythic+ dungeons. I don’t particularly enjoy them myself, but I can understand how they appeal to a certain demographic. The feature itself is solid, my issues with mythic+ dungeons are related to the fact I don’t like the class design in any of these expansions, can’t find a class that’s actually fun for me to play, i find them way too simplistic, and also I’m generally not a big fan of pve, especially when I don’t like the class design. So in short, I dislike Legion a lot, and whatever good it might have brought, it wasn’t addressed to me, so nothing it did actually enhanced my enjoyment of it, but everything else decreased it. I especially disliked the artifacts, the legiondaries, overrewarded world quests, overrewarded mythic+, especially the infinite farming of AP, the Legion implementation of titanforging, the pvp system, and most of all, the continuation of ability pruning and the redesign of my favorite classes and specs: priest, hunter and rogue. I liked playing discipline, I’ve been playing priest since vanilla, this was my first character, and after what Legion did to discipline I can barely recognize it. Survival hunter, which was my favorite alt to play, got turned into some generic boring melee, and it’s not that I have something against melee classes, but the selection was already gigantic, and I liked pre-legion survival, especially the MoP version. Rogue lost pretty much half of what I liked about it, or rather each spec stopped having something that was cool about the class before.

For BfA, I’d say the best thing it brought are some of the zones. They were very well designed, and I kinda liked the story line at the beginning. Everything else was a downer. The class design was just as bad as Legion, or in some cases even worse. There was no unpruning. Game systems got even more dumb. Titanforging still plagued the game as long as I played BfA. I didn’t like azerite armor, nor farming azerite power. I doubt I would like the essences system (haven’t played since they were implemented, but from everything I read about them, I know I don’t like the concept). Island expeditions were dull and boring. Warfronts were dull and boring. The pvp system was even worse than Legion, a feat I didn’t think was possible.

Shadowlands debuted with an encouraging announcement: the unpruning. They even made a big deal about it, presenting Brian Holinka as “the unpruner”. They told us they want to back away from the ideology of having specs being practically separate classes, and I wholeheartedly approve of that as well. They described the idea of having certain skills with a higher skill cieling as good, even if a majority of the population doesn’t use them, which again I approve of. Now, obviously I don’t know how the end result of this process will be, but at the very least they said the right words, they made the right promises about classes, so that sounds encouraging.

Now the bad of what they announced so far: no announcement about pvp vendors and a proper, separate pvp loot system from pve; I don’t like any kind of AP farming, any legendaries or stuff like that. Most of all, I loathe these systems that last only one expansion, that cause our characters to not be finished at max level, but instead require us to farm some crap currency, reputation or whatnot to “unlock power over time after you get to maximum level”. I very much dislike that.

Either way, until they disclose what they plan to do about pvp, I am not buying the expansion. If there are no pvp vendors, no proper pvp gear system like WoD or MoP, I am not buying the expansion. I do find it hard to believe that they can do anything worse than Legion and BfA, especially in the light of the announcements they made so far, but these two expansions pretty much shattered my trust in them.

Legion was fantastic, BFA woeful. Waiting to see the actual features of Shadowlands before deciding to buy. Won’t make another mistake of pre-ordering like with BFA.

I Think Legion,BFA (and from what little know about shadowlands)
Are all worse then WoD.

WoD Classes where way better. (except Spriest in legion being better then wod)
We had Less Rng.
Still had pvp gear with honor and conquest aswell, and Best PvP gear system weve had.
The raids were all really fun. (BRF is Imo best raid of all time).
Professions where lot more usefull then after they removed more and more to make them better/more relevant.
Alting was easy and fun to do. We still Had actual glyph system.
No infinite grind or rental abilties.
Still had tier sets aswell.

for Legion:
Legiondaries werent fixed till bfa prepatch then we got them to point they shouldve been day 1.
The classes were Ruined and Overpruned(escpially dk after wod having best versions of UH and Blood).
And BFA is same class design/core as Legion just without all shiny rental items.

AP is one of worst thing ever added to WoW,and Infiite grind is stupid
Rental abiltiies from artifacts/legiondaries shouldnt have happend ever.
Class should be complete when hit 110.
No new Talent Row.

M+ is a worse Challenge mode and was just required for AP and Legiondaries.

And not alternate progession path they said would be(even though with how pvp gear in wod worked they had perfect system to make it alternative but dint)

Despite focus for class identity/flavour they just removed more iconic class abilties/passives and all then ever before(like stances, runes, army of the dead for non UH dk’s)

Even rep got timegated with wq’s(who are just worse dailies, due in legion escpially being almost only quests you already did while leveling).

And rep mounts and toys/pets are a 1% chance for evry 10k rep after already being exalted.

WoD it was all same models yes but atleast wasnt rng after having to keep grinding rep after exalted already.

Good things:
NH + surumar was best story content theyever done.
Transmog System was improved.

BFA:
Same faults as legion Except even more pruning, even more dumbing down and slowing down of classes.
Also the GCD change
Taking away with no return of any kind.
Azerite Gear and Essences are just Terrible
More focus on rental abilties.
Worst Story ever By Far,Genociding a playable race and trying to shrug it under the Rug for a a Repeat(but 100times worse) of MoP’s Story.

Said they wouldnt do mounts like Legion Anymore,DID it anyway with 8.2.
Warfronts and islands are good ideas on paper, where just terribly executed.
And islands were rush rush rush not exploring islands.
While warfrontw where largly afk fest, that gave veyr high reward.

Good things from BFA.
Allied races(except Nightborne models not looking like NB at all),Heritage armors for all races.
Tmog was even more improved with hiding all but legs(which still has to happen) and more items being moggable.

Overal BFA worst expansion,Legion Second worst.

I would be disappointed if Shadowlands becomes worse than BfA. This expansion didn’t had anything new that I appreciated more than the zones.

I didn’t really raid so I can’t comment how good they where. Raiding simply didn’t had the carrot I needed to devote myself to it like it did in Legion.

I’ve hard to imagine that Shadowlands will be as good as Legion, the best expansion for maybe around a decade

the Shadowlands Feature trailer was just new Zones, new raids and Dungeons basicly which we get evry New Major patch adn expansion.
they really had nothing to show at all basicly at blizzcon.

And all questions answered were basicly we dont know yet.

I honestly expect shadowlands to be worse.
I hope it isnt and we get alot of improvements(aslo new writing team),but i have huge doubts after Legion and Escpially BFA.

I actually forgot warmode

One of the best additions ever that was created in this expansion so we can be on whatever server we want with friends and choose if we want to engage players or not.

Thank you blizzard

That and loosening the Transmog restrictions might be the best features of bfa ^^

They showed no class gameplays because…They are not done, for now…Which is worrying.

legion was awful for reasons mentioned above (horrible class design, bad PvP, boring professions, etc.etc.)

the only thing legion was exceptional is the sheer amount of content that was available but unlike many other people I can’t enjoy that aspect unless my class feels fun and engaging to play and legion was far from that, even WoD felt better.

BfA is just legion but even worse due to the GCD changes (yes they actually made classes feel even worse) but now people are bored with mythic + and world quests which were new features in Legion but now even the casuals seem to realize that something in this games very foundation has been rotting for a while now and cant be fixed just by throwing content at us.
