Let druid ditch their forms.

Druids are still miles behind on their customization options, even though we finally received some additional skins in legion.

And pretty much the easiest way to fix this is to let us play as guardian, feral and balance without being transformed in their respective animals.

This is of course save for pvp where it's nice to know if you got a feral or guardian druid on you're !@#$ rather than a rogue and warrior.

I like this idea, especially the part of playing a WC3-esque druid of the claw with fistweapons.
H*ll NO!

I like my druid and I like my forms... If you have issues with forms change to a diff class. I like to be faster then everyone in dungeons while in a cat form. To me being a druid is like playing 3 diff chars. Plus they are coming out with Zandalari trolls, I mean look at those forms.

Nothing about removing the forms, just that you don't have to be in them visually, for those that want it.

balance without being transformed in their respective animals.

Balance has glyph of stars. it's not perfect, but it's a start, be nice if the other forums had the option of a glyph to not shift form.

How will that work for travelform though? I don't wanna see flying Tauren.

We can already ditch Travel form by simply not using it instead of mounts.

I think you cannot compare Moonkin/Glyph of Stars with Feral or Guardian.

Balance is about offensive Spellcasting. Moonkinform, as well as Astral Form, are shapeshifts to enhance your abilities to do that.

As Guardian and Feral you have to become the animal to fight, the form defines the style of combat, instead of just slightly enhancing it.
Playing one of those specs without even shapeshifting really raises the question, why you hired as a shapeshifting druid in the first place, instead becoming a warrior or rogue right away.

I am not strictly against it, I am just asking myself why would anyone play druid at all if cat or bear is not his thing?

So how do you propose you place all those cat DoT, with your hand, foot, head, weapon (h*ll no)... What you are asking for will change everything that druids are. Running around as a hidden bear but in a reg form? I still say no. It will be like taking away Shadow form from Priests...

But isn't this eroding the very class idea for being a druid?

I don't main druid but I do have an alt, and it's their own very unique thing you want to take of off them?

Not sure that'd be too popular to be honest. Even if we make it just a choice for players, it's still taking away the very class' fantasy.

The first druids we got to see in warcraft were capable of fighting inside and outside their respective forms.

Druids are still capable of throwing spells. Just look at Resto which doesn't even have a permanent form.

Never once did i state the total removal of the druid forms. Those form will still be the default, whereby looking normal is an optional feature like a glyph.

All of this is about letting players have more customization, rather than being locked into the exact same options as ever other druid.
It will happen when they remove stealth from rogues. It will happen when they remove shields from warrior tanks.

And when they let fists tmog with other one handed weapns... Oh wait.

Steal also doesn't change how your character looks other than making you transparent.

And while Paladin might not be a Warrior, it would still be nice if they could tmog offhand items in place of their shield and vise versa.

I mean... I want to see flying tauren... I also want their travel form, as tauren form, to give me piggy backs.

Yeah, but how does that negate my point? Guardian as example is all about standing in the first line of battle, absorb as many blows as possible and survive.
You do that in flimsy leathercoated humanoid form or as a huge mountain of fur, muscle and fat if such a shapeshift is available to you?
I dont think this is well thought throu. One example is what about Sheep and CC that only works in your humanoid form?
That would be too brutal. I get why you ask for this, but you chose to play a druid. Feral and guardian have their power through those transformations. You cannot maul people with fists, you need bear paws for that.

I guess some compromise in form of lets say polymorfing only the hands into bear paws / cat claws and using some special animations of compat like DHs or Monks have but in more animalistic style?

But that would be too much work.

And how would a Druid use abilities that require teeth and claws? Are they going to bite with their normal teeth? It might work for some races, especially for the Worgen (a Worgen Feral Druid without shapeshifting is basically fighting how they fight without weapons), but absolutely not for the other races.

There is monks that can tank with barely any magic as well as being highly intoxicated, and then there are warriors which are magically impotent and can also just tank fine.

The suggestion is purely a cosmetic one, that doesn't take away either the forms, or whatever lore that is built around druids. As with tmogging it shouldn't be looked as, as how the world works, but rather as an cosmetic option for those that aren't interested in looking at the same bear !@#$ for years on end.

You missed the last statement, in which it is disabled form pvp, and in extension war mode.
Oh man, sometimes I wish that we still got that downvote button for the threads like this...
