Let us disable talking head

This is one of the most annoying features, and it covers my UI. It’s especially annoying in dungeons like Nokhud Offensive as it constantly pops up covering my screen with stuff I don’t care about.

Please give us the option to disable it!

Hello!

There are several addons which are doing that. I personally use the one named “NoTalk”.

That being said, actual in game option would be nice, indeed.

I moved it to the left bottom, little more bearable

I also moved mine somewhere it’s less obtrusive.

Agreed, more options are always good.

I had to think hard about what you were talking about :rofl: I believe it was in BFA when I installed that addon to remove the talking heads and never bothered since. Heck it’s still working for some reasons after 3 expansions

The one I installed in BfA stopped working at the beginning of DF. It was called ‘hide talking head’, I think. Which one are you using?

Yes ! i would like to TURN OFF !!!

“Me want dem souls bwamnsamdi! Give’em to your bossmon now!”
was replaced by
“these pools were put under my care!” or something. I’m sure another 200 runs and I’ll have it memorized to the letter.

I tried three that all have strengths and weaknesses and generally the whole addon situation is way too confusing for me to remember everything. I can only say I use HushNow, which allows me to manually, selectively disable them after first occurance. Probably cannot disable types or regions in general with it, without needing a blocklist. But again, this is turning into a job, trying to figure out what works how and keeping up-to-date without causing UI errors all the time.

I also used the native UI layout config to move the talking head frame to a position where it doesn’t clash so much with other stuff.

If you leave it running long enough then Once in a Lifetime you can watch it Byrne on the Road to Nowhere.

I like Talking Heads… you leave 'em alone.

HideTalkingHead was updated in november 2022 and works with DF

That’s weird. It certainly wasn’t working at least a couple of weeks after launch, which was why I deleted it. I wonder if it took a while to be pushed through to the 3rd party updaters.

I use Be Quiet to disable that

Mine does this. I have to keep turning off an addon when pressing certain things like, spells, or upgrading gear. I turn off addon, then turn it back on again and then it’s fine. I don’t get why this happens. This is why I don’t like getting many addons, and the Talking Head should have an option to be removed in-game.

IIRC that only hides the graphic, so then you don’t even have anything to click on in order to stop the talk.
Three I experiemented with are Hushnow, Talkless and Bequiet.

I assume that this is a bug because the option is there to remove it from the UI in edit mode. There’s a checkbox for it, it just doesn’t do anything. I’d report it as a bug.

No, it kills the story side of the game, blizzard should ban people using adds to hide talking head because adds brings fps advantage.

It does not need an add-on to opt out of talking heads. I don’t use any addons right now to modify the default settings and it is still there as a checkbox. It just doesn’t work.

And, since it is an option only, it doesn’t kill anything. I’m a solo player but I could still enjoy the story without the talking heads, the voiceover is completely enough for me. Dialogs happen in game without the talking heads as well, for example the Kalecgos staff dialog in Stormwind. People who like this feature can just turn it on.

Right now, it is just simply broken.
