Absolutely. Personal loot was fine for pick-up groups and even kind of okay for organized guild groups.
The only “downside” with personal loot is armor-type stacking (e.g. “leather groups”) … but that’s also kind of a cool trade-off in terms of sacrificing power (less optimal group setup) which makes the content harder, for the benefit of greater rewards (higher chance of loot trades happening).
Honestly, the current system feels like it’s the worst of all worlds, combined 
PL caused tons of begging and drama whenever someone felt entitled to another person’s loot and got the answer “It has better stats” or “I need it for transmog”.
GL would be fine if the loot generated would match the proportion of specs in the group, and not drop crap nobody can use.
The whole argument about ninjaing comes from people who don’t understand how the systems work.
