Forcing raids to use open need/greed is stupid. You have essentially created a loot system where ninja looting is a free-for-all, and assigning loot based on enforceable rules agreed upon by the raid team in advance is not possible.
Everyone who can equip an item has the option to need on it, which causes drama when a guild raid is trying to optimize loot distribution for bis-stat items going to the best specs/classes, and some people have different ideas as to which items are bis for which classes (e.g. the eranog ring having bis stats for some healers but also the bis proc for DPS players so either category will REEEE if the other gets the item)
Why can’t you just give us good old master looter back? It worked perfectly from back in classic all the way up to the day you removed it for seemingly no sane reason. At least leave it as an option that we can select, even if it is not the default one.
The unnecessary social friction caused by this open need roll system is frankly unacceptable for a game with this level of budget. When you’re asking for €49.99 an expansion plus a €12.99 sub, you owe it to your customers to do better.
I mean, yes. Wouldn’t be an issue, but everyone can just pass and then it is master looter in all but name?
Master looter with a bunch of extra steps, and with no security for anyone once they pass that someone else doesn’t press need on the item.
The extra steps being – first, the looter has to loot all the items, then he has to physically move to each and every person that wins the item and manually trade them one at a time. And again that assumes not a single person in the raid gets greedy fingers and presses need on the item.
“You can emulate the old and superior system, with less security and a bunch of workarounds” is not a valid argument when we’re talking about a game with this level of funding.
No bring back Personal Loot with the addition that Rings/Necks can always be traded despite what Ilvl you have in the slot. That would remove the small amounts of wasted loot in the first weeks of a new tier and it would keep the game fair where everyone has an equal shot at gear.
Im personally of the opinion that it can be implemented easily. LFG system is a prime example of that.
Just make it so you have to have a full guild group to use it. Yes, this means that guilds who have to pug can’t, but they couldn’t before anyway not with this system and not with the previous.
As a workaround you can get your raiders to use RC Loot Council. It is set up with the current loot rules, and you can set it up that everyone beside the raid leader automatically passes on loot when it drops.
Once all loot is on the raid lead they can initiate a loot distribution round where people can vote need/greed/transmog for what dropped.
It is not the best solution, but since we still do not have master loot this is an alternative to work with.
Yes. I agree. Guild masters and consorts were all fully geared in the first few weeks. Then their friends were also fully geared, then their cousins, their uncles and aunties, then the barber and then us, if none of the above needed something.
It worked flawlessly indeed.
