Let's introduce "karma" currency

Someone in my recent topic had a brilliant idea!
Karma points for non-toxic behavior, incentivizing nice behavior to other players. Namely, it could be awarded for:

  • finishing any dungeon, scaling with difficulty, more points for harder M+. 5% more points for not timed key finished - small incentive for people to not abandon a run at the end
  • passing on loot in group loot - now people need on anything they can just because they can - let’s give them a currency for passing on things they dont need!
  • surrendering 2v2/3v3 after your teammate dies - one of the most annoying things in arenas are healers griefing by running and not dying, some healers like monks or druids can excel at this, increasing the arena duration for even a couple of minutes - lets give people a small reward for losing with dignity - u lose, just surrender. but not enough of the currency to make people lose on purpose, and only to the guy who is alive, so it’s not a karma farming team effort.
  • helping people with group quest objective, when you don’t have the quest on. when grouped with the quest person. - sometimes there are 3-people quests for elites and people have hard times killing them on their own - that would give some incentive to random geared people to help out.
  • finishing a dungeon/raid finder run without a successful “Vote to kick” passing - i.e. it would bar people from random kicks - as long as someone isnt absolutely detrimental, they’d have an incentive to keep him in the run.
  • passive karma every month if you weren’t reported? I mean it could be unfair since random reports can be made out of grief but… if you werent reported even randomly, maybe you deserve something?
  • completing a public work order with max availble quality for an item

What would karma give
My idea is it should reward currency points that you could exchange at a broker/ethereal vendor for old content currencies/tokens.
For example, you could exchange karma points for:

  1. genesis motes
  2. Argent tournament badges
  3. Tol Barad commendations
  4. anima
  5. any “resources” like WoD garrison resouces, Order hall resources etc.
  6. timewarped badges?
  7. Ascended crafting things?
  8. Some rare drops from old content, useful for crafting?
  9. maybe quest items for old legendaries, like fragments of valanyr or something for the Firelands staff?
  10. Halfhill cooking tokens / epicurean awards etc.
  11. Darkmoon faire tickets?

Alternatively you could add small amounts of conquest/valor to be bought per week to make it more relevant, but my idea is that these “nice” behaviors should reward less relevant things but still something you could think about that it’s worth to be done at the same time you are doing your main expac content.

Of course it’s just a draft idea but imo it could help making WoW less toxic? I mean, it’s a right direction in my opinion.
What do you think???

lfg farming karma.

No this is going to be abused to heavily. Instead of people using it the right way they will see it as something they got to farm. Because they want the reward

And without a decent reward it would end up like like the overwatch 2 endorsement. Absolutely useless

people farm ANYTHING - I don’t think it should be scrapped just because people farm karma.
And frankly, the best way to farm this should be finishing dungeons, which enables proper gameplay anyway.
Now people farm valor in 2+ - is it degenerate enough?

Also it would give old rewards - nothing new - no one would be forced to do it any more than doing old content.

People are going to kick or insult people not going fast enough more often then because they are not minmaxing their time to get the currency asap.

Theres plenty of people who dont got everything from old content and some old currency are far more annoying to farm than just spamming some dungeons for karma currency

A karma currency is going to achieve the opposite of what its supposed to do in WoW.People are going to be toxic to farm the currency

Nice in theory but would probably get abused by the very people that wouldn’t earn it otherwise. Besides that I don’t need to be rewarded for not being a douche.

The internet just brings out the worst in some people and that will probably never change no matter what system they come up with.

if there is an option, as listed, to get it just for finishing dungeons without kicking people or leaving or whatever - that could be pretty good way for douchebags to earn it anyway

or blizzard could just rework how mythic+ keys and loot work.

They hold all the cards and could stop toxicity.

Giving people good boy points isn’t required. Just stop peeing off everyone in the playerbase by making us at odds with eachother.

thanks guys, please carry me. I will be here at the start of the dungeon going afk. You cant kick me because you want your karma currency and i dont want to leave because i wouldnt get the currency

That’s not a brilliant idea. That’s what would kill the game/forums. Look at Reddit and how inflated Karma is there.

Same with Overwatch endorsement system…

the overwatch endorsement system gives nothing but xp for the battlepass anyway. I get backfill games 90% of the time wich i will leave. And yet im still somehow am at endorsement level 3 despite my rank constantly going down due to leaving backfill.

Working as intended i guess lol

Feel free to move to china

I like the idea. But for the ‘Rewards’ system.

I would say, make something like it visible. Bad behaviour gives negative points wich are displayed on your character at all times, even on alts.

Then again, if we just removed the M+ timer the toxic community would fall appart down to a few elites

FFXIV have a system like this in place. It is abused by the fact that there is a custom as to who you award the karma to (tanks/healers and dps/dps). It means that all you need to do is complete a lot of dungeons to get the currency for the reward (which I honestly cannot remember).

that could be abused a little too much I think xD

Karma karma karma karma karma-karmeleooon :notes:

Here you go, it should be stuck in your mind now

why? I dont know the tune so why would it be stuck lol

I’d love to see a list of Bad Karma, because that’s what would wipe out most players. :joy:

I think it should mostly encourage good behavior than punish bad ones so it’s not something super toxic in nature.

I suggest calling it social credit score instead.

Well i don’t think blizz should spend so many hours do something like this.
And players gonna exploit the heck out of it.
