Our wish as pet tamers to "to be very best", and for that we should tame very best pet. And very best wolf out there is Avatar of xolotal in my opinion.

There are so many beasts in this expansion that you can not tame, this is just another one to add to that list. Shame as I really want that wolf, I also want to tame a ferret. I want more than two colours of cobras to tame, but that isn't going to happen either.

If its stuck with abilities like masters call etc then its pointless because its just cosmetic and no real increase in performance as a hunter class.
HOWEVER if it had spirit strike (Or whatever it was called) again, then may be :).
In case you are wondering I got the undead bird of prey look because I liked its ability 'Snatch' it was a disarm ability. Hunters lost out big time when the generalised pet abilities.
I found the hunter tamable cataclysm spider pets appalling they were just re-texture crap and then the pandaria porcupines were just as bad.
