I’m done. 500 posts, over half of them negative about frost mage changes.
Blizzard didn’t even respond. Nothing happened. It’s a total disaster.
Why should anyone bother posting anything? I’m done posting feedback. There’s no point - and this isn’t a new phenomenon and doesn’t just affect me. They make feedback threads and then don’t react let alone respond to anything in it.
Probably not with the game. Maybe - I mean what I say - but I’m not giving up just yet. But yeah, I’m definitely done with frost mage and posting anything actually useful. You may celebrate.
I can so easily relate to what you mean as trying speak of shuffles and how it hurt pvp for past 4 years and they have done absolute nothing yet to fix anything from the harm they caused, dont give up voicing your thoughts of the game, we are paying for this and we have every right and should give voice to our concerns. Midnight mage design looks so boring, I’m also concerned if it will be fun.
Well its one way to leave feedback. Cancelling sub has the option to leave reason for it. Can even continue playing for full month anyway.
Yes, and it deflated arena and the way to play this game with our friends and with any group we would desire, basically forced into long ques in badly designed solo mode which design is also bad for healers, could not be worse. My current beef is on their old problem in que system that they left open for que syncers for so many years that its now abused for rated blitz by wintrading communities. They need to fix this type stuff in game that has monthly sub and suspects us to continue paying for service.
Could you summarise in short what you dislike in frost changes to midnight, I like to see peoples feedback of class changes, I know the mages pruned abilities will make us less mobile. What specifically you disliked of frost?
They’re removing Shatter and giving us per target combo points expressed as a debuff that stacks to 20. Again, per target. Every single target has its own buff and you will do more or less damage on them depending on which one you hit. You’ll have to track this. Difficult with WeakAuras, impossible without them.
They’re calling this mechanic Shatter. It’s not.
They are COMPLETELY ignoring all feedback about this and several other major issues despite the Talent being annoys unchanged for, hope you’re sitting down, 22 years. Guess suddenly it was broken somehow.
I always respect Your opinion, but with this one I disagree: Blizzard does respond to feedback, just a very selected one. Let me explain why I believe so.
First of all, I base my opinion on the assumption that Blizzard wants wow players to believe that the game game is good. Happy players mean subs, good publicity and so on, so the more happy the players are, and the more of them are happy the better.
Second thing: how does Blizzard make players happy? Do they make players happy by making the game good? No. I’ll explain: whether the players feel the game is good and are happy with it has little to do with the game itself (at least in Blizzards eyes). How did I come to that conclusion?
Watch this video (balance section, around minute 26):
Ion explains here how player perception of class balance has nothing to do with actual balance. Blizzard stopped trying to get the numbers just right. They make constant changes to make players feel like the classes are being balance (not that they are actually balanced).
How does that relate to this particular discussion? Well, Blizzard has to make people think that new class changes are good - how do they go about that? Should they act on the feedback from the forum? Well, that would be difficult, since some of it is conflicting and contradictory.
So Blizzard found another way. Here You can see Ion explaining the influence of content creators on wows playerbase (around minute 12):
So, since players don’t play the game to formulate their own opinions, but rather let themselves be influenced by content creators, all Blizzard has to do to convince people that their class changes are ok is to convince content creators about that.
So how do they do it? They go to class discords, where most engaged players (and guide writers) are, and listens to their feedback.
And look here. Don’t be fooled by the number of viewers - channel owner is one of the most prominent members of Alter Time, the mage class discord.
See how at first he’s dooming, but praises the changes in a layer video. And You can be sure that wow heads guide would actually say that Midnight changes are ok for frost mage.
Edit:
Bellular actually doesn’t like the changes, I thought about another content creator, link in a post below. Sorry!
Look at channels like Bellular, who puts frost mage as a winner of class changes.
Blizzard does listen to feedback. But they only listen to feedback of those that can influence other players and make them believe that Blizzard actually makes the game good.
Thats odd compared to just having shatter condition on target from pressing like flurry. It was also one of the fun things left on mage that you combo bigger hits with shatter.
Pace of the game is too fast now for it but my favorite since vanil were nova target and cast frostbolt and press cone of cold the second you release frostbolt and it would count shatter for both and crit. That type gameplay is hardly anymore there but atleast shatter with flurry still exist, this new system looks more dull, kinda what I see for most classes in midnight
They did good changes to warlock specs so far, I’ll give them that, I cant wait to have midnight warlock design compared to this what we currently had throug tww.
Responding to the whole thing, not just what I quoted.
A few things:
If you’re not going to take class feedback from the forums and you’re just gonna have the class Discord do it, don’t make a thread called “FEEDBACK: Mage”
You’re not going to convince anybody sane that they’re having fun because Manather or someone else says you are. Either it’s fun or it’s not.
A complete spec overhaul is a big deal - this isn’t the iterative or pruning changes other people got, the frost mage rework is a total rework. It needs more back and forth than normal.
On Bellular: He doesn’t even play mage, his opinion is irrelevant, see reason 2.
On Manather: His video is positive because it’s a positive direction compared to his last video. He doesn’t say that it’s better than it was before all this, and from speaking to him I know he doesn’t think so. Also, in that video you can’t even see the stacks that he’s supposed to respond to in his rotation because the duration number overlaps it. Obviously this is broken. He knows that.
Furthermore, Manather has completely lost the bloody plot on mage. A few months ago he suggested turning Blizzard into Starfall as well, and before that he asked for mages to be tanky like Warlocks and to remove shields and mobility, and before that he suggested putting the freeze procs only on the mage and ignore the state of the target entirely. If Blizzard is listening to him only no wonder the class is going to hell. They need to listen to far more people, in particular in the places where they specifically ask for it.
You know, last part was just examples - due to what Blizzard is saying about player perception I believe they actually turn their attention more to content creators. It doesn’t matter if it’s Manather, Bellular or anyone else: as long as they have influence over others, Blizzard’s best bet to please the most players is to please these “influencers”.
I’m not saying they’re right to do that - I actually don’t like it myself. I’m not even claiming that I’m right about it all - just that all this makes sense to me, considering how Blizzard responds to feedback. I acknowledge I might be wrong.
I decided to look up the Bellular video, just because I felt I was being a bit too short there.
You’re actually completely wrong, here’s his statement: (Timestamp should be set to 19:02)
He hates it.
But that wasn’t my real point anyway - the point is: Blizzard just isn’t paying any attention to us or anyone else. It’s not just Frost mages over there, pretty much everybody is being ignored. I’m not saying Blizzard should do what they ask for, but at least respond. Once. Just once.
Hm, must have been someone else, I’ve watched a lot of videos about midnight changes lately, apologies. I’ll try to get the video I was thinking about tomorrow.
Edit:
This was the one I was thinking about in particular:
They’re too busy trying to fix devourer before prepatch after all the negative feedback that one got. No time for old specs - just like old races get no new costumisation.
Thats so true, also clocked on this phenomenon how we get some new hero and all old classes somehow have to be left neglected. I’m like “hey I’m not interested to play your dh but I’m here too, what do I get” and then the new hero is completely busted of course and beats everyone 600-0 in PvP while all my old classes are left in dust. It’s legit every new release of something the same happens, new hero is always made op and old classes wait for next expansion to get some talent tweaks. Legit everytime, it’s so annoying, I’m glad if others see it too
