You don’t get enough conquest in solo shuffle - if you do not win at least 3 games, you get 0 regardless of putting in the same amount of time and effort as other players. The ‘punishment’ for not winning 3 already exists - you lose rating. On top of this, playing as a dps means that you’re maybe getting 1 queue per hour (sometimes 2) and so going into a solo shuffle and winning 1 or 2 games and not receiving anything for an overall hour of game time feels absolutely terrible. I think time gating conquest is ridiculous when solo shuffle queue times are insanely high.
I would propose this amount of conquest per win below, fairly straight forward and just means you have to spend less time worrying about capping for the week and more time just doing whatever you want.
First of all, next week the cap will be reduced to 550 conquest.
Second of all, you can get conquest from other sources:
War-Mode Chest drops - 60 conquest, daily.
Weekly PvP quests - Between 150 and 250 conquest per quest- 3 quests total.
Random BG daily wins - 150 Epic, 75 random.
The current system is fair, although the conquest gains have been reduced.
But losing should not reward conquest, as is with all other forms of PVP. You don’t get conquest when you lose a 2v2 or 3v3 arena. Same should be when you lose a shuffle, or it is a draw. You didn’t win in either case.
I agree you shouldn’t be rewarded in pvp if you lose however, you do get honor if you lose in bgs but kind of besides the point. Fundamentally though, if you win 1/6 games, you have still won and therefore, should be rewarded. If you won 1/6 games in a typical 3v3 / 2v2, you would expect to be rewarded for that win. Is this not fair?
The reason it works like that (games are not rewarded independently, but for the 6 as a whole) is that if you won 1 game, but lost 5, this means you were carried by the stronger DPS and the stronger healer.
Only if you win 4 games or more, you can be considered the one winning regardless of the others - the one with whom people won, and against whom they lost most of the time. Then, it can be considered as your achievement, and not somebody else’s. Therefore, you get conquest.
As for honor, it is not meant for competitive players and is awarded more liberally.
Yes but that is what I’m proposing, that each game rewards conquest based on it’s own merit because that is how it works in every other system in WoW, so why differ here. Even in a mythic, if you don’t complete in time, sure you don’t get the rating BUT you do still get a chest.
I wouldn’t say winning 4 or more games makes you the outright winner, you still lost 2 and therefore, by your argument, should not get any conquest. Because you are saying you either pass or fail right? Meaning, win 6/6 - receive conquest, win 5/6 - receive nothing since you have still lost.
As for the competitive aspect, I would again disagree. In terms of competition, people care about rating, not about how much conquest you have or have received. Also if this were to be true, battlegrounds would not reward any conquest as that is not meant for ‘competitive players’, but they do.
