I understand, that they want people to waste as much time as possible, so need to be level capped in their eyes to get something like this… I think.
But i feel it a bit of a annoying chore, that if i want a character to have a certain look like these armor sets, i first have to level up a character of that race (And armor type?) i want for a character, then if i just want to use it from the start, i really need to delete that character and do it again. Can level fast with dungeons and so forth, but why cant the reputation be enough?
I am a kind of a player, that when the character hits max level, the game for that character is basicaklly over when quests are finished. This would not be the case, if scaling worked like in ESO, but it has those annoying brackets, that make sure that i cant enjoy anything low level with high level toon.
Anyway, i just feel theres too much grinding in the game right now that is totally not needed, especially for cosmetic stuff that is allready too limited since Blizzard do not like me having as much fun as i want.
I am a member of that race, so why am i not granted the racial armor when i start the game? The starter armours would do nicely, but i guess they are too much fun too, hmm?
While I understand your reasoning, heritage armour is intended as a reward for leveling to max, not as a reward for rolling a race.
I do think that the class armour should be available to all, perhaps at level 10/15 you could do a little questline to get it.
I like the idea of heritage armor but i think they need to take a different approach than what they are doing atm.
I already got a lot of classes to 110 and 120, different classes and different races. I dont want to level a new class and race that i already got up to 110 or 120. They should just give the herritage armor to those who already leveled that race up to max level.
I agre. I also have some characters, though just 110 but in progress to getting to 120 when i finish current character. I really dont want to level one again.
Also, i am thinking that since i am now leveling a human mage. Started from scratch few weeks ago and she is now 96. Do i have to start a NEW human from scratch to get the armor?
As a "Lesser class armour. I think the starter gear should be cosmetic reward from level 1. Some of them could use polish, but some like Belf starter armour, are very good and i would really love to use just them in these colors.
It frustrates me, that i do not enjoy getting new gear. I want to look what my character is supposed to look when he/she is level 1, and i would decide when he gets more “fancy” clothing depending on what the characters story is.
Heritage Armour Sets, for non-Allied Races will be available to be earned by any max-level character of the qualifying Race.
The first ones are set to be Dwarf & Blood Elf; as I understand it, once you’re max-level, you do a few Quests based on the Race & you’re done.
At that point, any character, new or old of that Race will be able to use the appearance irrespective of their Armour proficiency… as Heritage Armour sets are cosmetic.
@Zulwassa: As Eighjan noted, the heritage armour for non-allied races will be more retroactive, there is no need to relevel, just having a 120 and doing a few things will be enough (having maxed your racial reputation likely being one of those details, though). So just get your human to 120 and max her Stormwind reputation for now, the other additional details will eventually be revealed once human heritage armour is ready (, which might take a while, have not seen any info on human armour yet).
They should really also give us possibility to add white and gray items to appearance, preferrably as cosmetic items. There are many gray ones i would really love to use. Less restrictions. ESO has it right. Everyone can use any appearance they want regardless of class or race. Some weapon restrictiion apply like 1 handed can only have appearance of other one handed, but thats okay. But that is bit off topic
@Trelw
Thanks for the info. Relieved to know that
Do you know, if getting one class to levelcap also unlocks those appearances that do not belong to that class? For example, if i level that mage, do i also get mail appearance or is it just one set for all the classes?
Allied races have even worse requirements for their armor, at least with the normal races you can use a boosted character or a race change on a 120.
But I think a big part the problem is that there is so little variation on transmogs at low levels because transmogs for some reason are level restricted. Heritage armor is a nice transmog without restrictions, there just needs to be more like that or just allow all armor to be transmogged at all levels. Then when there is a decent variety in transmogs they could leave heritage armor as an extra reward.
Honestly the pre-60 armor with textures from 2004 looks really mismatched with the updated character models. They could also just go through all the old armor and update the textures, while doing that also update the ancient models for early hunter pets, flight masters and mounts.
I agree and for me, the litle variation goes all the way to levelcap and to character creation. Since i want my character to look right, i have to pick class that can wear that stuff… Mostly it is cloth wearing types, but at times like now, my mage would rather use some leather for that adventurer look that leather can bring. My hunters also would preferr leather over mail.
I agree that some polish would go a long way to improve these, but when Blizzard is concerned, the updates are a slippery slope indeed, and tend to be more like vhanges than just quality improvments.
I dont want to lose any more of those pre WOTLK looks i like than Cataclysm allready destroyed.
Transmog needs less restrictions in general and also the gray and white stuff needs to be valid for transmog.
I want everything in-game for doing absolutely nothing to get it, and if you disagree with me then you are a troll and Blizzard just want us to waste our money.
At this point of logic, I’m surprised you even play the game at all.
Yip, they need to rethink allied races. If they intend to bring out many more I can see people getting very bored with level 20 starts.
They need to think the heritage armor though. How many people are going to level multiple classes to use the armor. I personally dont think it’s to incentivise services but it a huge pull to them.
they’re cosmetic rewards specific to a race, you don’t have to unlock every single heritage armor, as much as you don’t have to collect every single mog or mount ingame.
you want to do it? it will be dull and time consuming.
for the races you already play it will be basically automatic, and effortless, i certainly would not boost or racechange a character just to unlock the dwarf heritage armor as i don’t even have a dwarf character, because i don’t like them, if i liked dwarves i’d have one capped already… same for allied races if idon’t want to play characters of that allied race, chances are i don’t like it, and i’d have no use for it’s hertage armor, the only exception being if a player is a completionist, which is by definition extremely time consuming.
